Hi, This site was fantastic for picking out my engagement ring so was hoping to get some more great advice from the community! I made the mistake of buying a diamond with the intention of finding the perfect match for a set of studs...It's a lot harder than I thought. However, I have found 3 options that could be potential matches. Any help regarding these specific diamonds and general rules of thumb would be much appreciated. Thanks!

My Diamond
H, VS1 GIA ExExEx
Table 55%
Depth 61.7%
Crown Angle 34.5
Pavilion Angle 40.8
Measurements: 5.76-5.79

Potential Diamond #1 Most expensive (worried this is too big of a diamond since it is a full 0.1 larger)
H, SI1 AGS000
Table 55.6%
Depth 60.8%
Crown Angle 34.7
Pavilion Angle 40.9
Measurements: 5.86 - 5.89

Potential Diamond #2 $200 cheaper (worried that the color may be off and it is also smaller than the others)
I, VS2 GIA ExExEx
Table 55.0%
Depth 60.8%
Crown Angle 35.0
Pavilion Angle 40.6
Measurements: 5.70 - 5.74

Potential Diamond #3 $500 cheaper than diamond #1 (Pictures make the diamond look great and size is right but worried about the table being too big and the angles not being a good match but really would like to save $500 if I could!)
H, SI1 GIA No Cut Grade, VG Polish, G Symmetry
Table 60.0%
Depth 58.5%
Crown Angle 32.0
Pavilion Angle unknown
Measurements: 5.74 - 5.79

Have you decided on a vendor to make your earrings? Maybe it would be easier to send the diamond to them and have them come up with suggestions.

Contact Yekutiel at ID Jewelry. He is very good at finding matching stones for you. He will make your job of matching stones much easier. I have him working on stones for my stud earrings and he has come up with two very beautiful matching stones. He will work within your budget and is a pleasure to do business with. Good luck to you.

I took the easy way out and had Leslie at BGD find the pair.
Best of luck

Hi - - Yep - I'd remove #3 as the table & crown angles are too different - if it was a smaller stone...maybe, but you'll have to put a bit more care & attention into matching a 3/4ct than you would for say a 1/4ct, as any differences will be more noticeable in a larger stone.
I'd probably skip #1 as well - you don't really need to pay for extra weight when you can find another with the same mm/weight as the one you have - - might as well save a few quid.
For stone #2 - - With colour, it's quite common to have an F with a G, or a G with an H, etc. You just want to make sure that your H isn't at the top end of the range before pairing it with an I that is possibly at the bottom end of it's colour range - - if you can get the two side-by-side, that would quickly clear up that question.
In general, for mm size, as long as you can keep it within about a 1/10th of a mm you should be fine (ie 5.75mm with a 5.85mm) - - there'll be a head in between so they don't have to be spot on - - can probably get away with a slightly greater difference if you're having a bezel setting rather than a claw setting.
PintoBean made a good suggestion about maybe taking it to your jeweller and having them match it for you.
Hope this helps

None of those.

Color should be the same.

Keep table within a percentage point.

Diameters should touch or overlap..examples 5.76x5.79 and 5.80x5.81 or 5.76x5.79 and 5.77x5.80

I try to keep the lower girdle facets within 1 (like 76 and 77), angles similar but definitely within 34-35.0 crown and 40.6-40.9 pav

I know people say you don't have to have them closely matched, but there are thousands of diamonds out there, so why not???

:D Fair enough comment - many folks would want them to be as close as possible...but if someone's on a tight budget, and it's not going to make any visible/noticeable difference, then it might be an option for some to not have an exact match ;-)

76, 77 LGFs and 40.9 crown angle would be impossible in GIA stones because of the rounding. Would need pictures to compare the LGFs. And ASET for light performance - mitigating any risks arising out of differing pav angles.

Thank you very much for the advice! As many have guessed budget is a concern and all three diamonds are priced well below what a jeweler would charge. Seems to me that the cheapest option is definitely out ;( so I will have to pick between the other 2...wish I had all the time in the world but need the earrings completed by early May.
