I''ve got a Sarin Report which includes the following data:

Shape: Round
Weight: 1.01 Ct.
Diameter: 6.51mm
Crown Angle: 34.5 degrees
Crown Height: 15.4%
Pavil. Angle: 40.8 degrees
Pavil. Depth: 43%
Culet: 1.3%
Table Size: 55.0%
Total Depth: 61.1%
Girdle Thickness: 0.7%-1.2%

I really like the diamond, but will the girdle thickness prevent me from setting it in a solitaire engagement ring?

Hi arloud,

I feel that a minimal girdle thickness of, 0.7% is absolutely common. AGS will give a zero rating for a
thickness between, 0.5-3.0%

In other words, based on the numbers, this diamond should be fine for setting, in the hands of a professional.

Sounds like a beauty of a stone...I would agree that the girdle should be fine. If you have a diagram of the girdle points, try to have the setter set the thin .7 part/s under a prong if possible.

congrats!

Perfect girdle.

'Thin' refers to one or a few areas only.
The difference between thin to medium is not
noticeable to the eye.

'Thin' is not of concern in terms of durability.
The fact is that if an area around the girdle
has imperfections or inclusions that are dangerous,
then even a medium to thick girdle will chip, fracture,
or break.

The stone you're considering, an ideal cut, which I presume
is also an H&A will be positioned by a good
knowledgeable setter so that the prongs are positioned
in such a way that the Arrows are aligned properly
and you get the benefit of that full visual arrows effect.
Whether or not a 'thin' portion of the girdle
comes under the prong is not a consideration in this case.
Mention this to the vendor who will be setting the stone for you.

Good Luck and Congrats!
