How soon should I begin work on a custom ring?

Hi everyone...

My hubby and I will celebrate 25 years of marriage in February. I have already expressed the desire to upgrade my diamond and change the cut I want so the real question is, how long does a custom ring usually take? I pretty much know what I want as far as design. What kind of concerns should I have on my list or things to do before going to the jewelers?

Any help on this would be appreciated...I live in Riverside, CA and have contacted one local jeweler in Irvine. I may have to trade in my current diamonds to off set the cost of the upgraded ring, which is fine. If someone has a solid referral for me, I am game as well...

a custom ring can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. it all depends on who you are working with. keep in mind that dec/jan/feb are all very busy months for jewelers.
