How should I set this little natural red spinel?

I’m debating on getting this little guy and set it into sterling silver ring for a cost friendly fun piece to start a stack. It’s natural, untouched, about 1.2 ct spinel. I’m thinking claw prongs but that may not be durable due to a crack. I’m drawn to bezel but maybe that won’t help with the giant window?
