How should I set this Barbie pink Mahenge spinel?

I have bought this Barbie pink Mahenge spinel from DesertRose and for months I have been going back and forth on how to set this. While small, the color really pops and stays the same even in low light. I have considered setting in a bypass ring, attached are photos with a spess and chrysoberyl. On the other hand I am not sure it should share the stage with another stone and instead deserves to IMG_2978.pngbe the focal point with just support from diamond melee.
Any thoughts, suggestions are highly appreciated.

wow, the color of the sapphire. Great setting, it really lets the stone stand out.

To me, your stone far exceeds a "Barbie" pink... she's approaching neon in my estimations. :kiss2: If you want my vote, it's for letting her have the full limelight!
Yes, i do want your vote! Would you say a diamond halo or maybe just some stones to the sides, like the beautiful kashmir sapphire in the link LilAlex posted above?

Personally, I would maximize presentation with a double halo since she's petite, but has killer color. Not everyone loves halos though, so if you prefer something more simple, like cloud_less' gorgeous ring, by all means! I don't think you can go wrong. :)

I actually vote 2 stone! Desertrose herself has a bypass 2 stone with a spinel and a paraiba that looks fantastic.

DesertRose’s ring is why I thought of bypass as an option; it is simple but the neon stones plus the engraving design make it very special. Plus the gold has very rich color, like french gold.

i am a fan of halos but also appreciate simpler settings, which makes this more complicated.
I think I will sit on this for a moment, proceed with setting the chrysoberyl from my other thread, and hopefully a make decision for this spinel soon.

What color metal would you use with this pink?

The saturation is so strong, I think any color of gold or platinum would work beautifully. But I'm leaning towards yellow gold. If you add another stone in (besides diamond), that might sway me in one direction. Again, when a stone has such great color, it's hard to make a mistake. :)

After going back and forth between setting ideas and color combinations I finally decided to go with this tsavorite from DesertRose. I was worried the colors would compete but they are actually nice together without stepping on each other’s toes so to speak. IMG_4049.jpeg
Weather is not cooperating, weeks of rain and fog, so quite hard to take a photo that represents the colors accurately.
Setting wise i decided to go with a toi et moi/ bypass ring, and I am looking for inspiration in antique examples. IMG_0408.jpeg

No help on design but I love the intense saturation and the similar tones.

YUM!

Thank you @LilAlex i was afraid they would clash but Tandi (DesertRose) assured me that the tsavorite looked good with similarly saturated pink stones she has on hand and she was right. Instead of clashing these two are like a gemstone powecouple.

Not antique, but certainly inspiring...

@MakingThe Grade's fabulous 'lotus' ring:

Thank you for sharing, it is a beauty; the way the bezel was done is really interesting and it is now saved to my ring folder. I think i want to go with bezel and here are two antique/ about to be old enough to count as antique rings I have saved from Instagram and Etsy. The second one is described as Jugendstil, and I primarily
saved it for the flower design on the shoulders. The two toi et moi/ bypass threads have few other rings I saved. And of course non antique but DesertRose’s bypass is really special.IMG_3965.jpegIMG_3966.jpegIMG_3826.png

You went with a stunning combination. Absolutely love the tsav with the spinel. My choice from your original post would have been spess/spinel. Someday I'll have jewelry with exactly that combo -- jedi spinel and spess. One of my favorites together!

Thank you, I appreciate it! I agree, hot pink like this goes so well with orange and i think that is how i will set the little spess pear. Crossing fingers you can find the perfect stones for your ring! Were you thinking bypass or a halo in one of the colors or maybe a different style?

I had stones similar to yours, and had I kept them, this was the general idea. Yours are beautiful!

Side note -I believe DKJ did do a replica of this antique ring for someone here not that long ago with an ACA and it’s very lovely.

What a pretty bezel! I have a possibly dumb question - if DKJ already did a replica of this antique ring and if I wanted to have him use that same design would help with the project cost since he wouldn’t have to design from scratch?
Also, great photoshop skills, thank you for doing this. I tried using powerpoint and my results were really sad.

Not a dumb question at all. It might matter to certain vendors, help lower the cost to use an existing design if it’s not tweaked at all.
But not (that I’m aware of) with DKJ. They don’t have separate charges for CAD design. It’s built into their quote. Again, that I’m aware of. I haven’t had a project with them in a few years.

It’s not a bezel - but (imo) kinda similar but still not. Some call faux bezel, cup with prongs, shaped bead/bright I guess?

And thanks! Zoom in and you’ll see all the cut/paste patchwork - lol!

I see it now, all it took was actually using my reading glasses
