Did you not want your refund in the form of a cheque?

Is your cheque made out for pounds or dollars?

I expect one method may be better than the other in terms of exchange rates etc - but I''m no expert on this! :)

If you have any queries I would suggest phoning GOG, or emailing them direct. I am sure they will be only too happy to help answer your question.

Most of the stores in the US have a company check policy for refunds over a certain amount including the big chains/discounters.
For example Kmart it is over $500, Walmart $1000
In the computer world online mega-retailers newegg and tiger direct does the same.
So yes a company check policy is the way its generally done.

I can not answer for Jonathon, but I suspect if you had asked in advance it could have been done just about any way you wanted it.

The reason we get wire transfers done is because it is faster than waiting for your check to clear and most of you want to see the diamond as quickly as possible.

It does cost us more to send a wire transfer than a check, so normally we would send a check unless discussed in advance.

Thanks Cleo, Storm and Wink.

Cheque was made out in dollars so it took about two months until it was in my account, one waiting on cheque and one waiting for it to clear. I lost about £500/$1000 due to the exchange rates shifting.

No I didn't think to ask about getting it wired back. I never even thought about it at all until I read the post yesterday about Blue Nile which I referenced in my post above. It has been sometime now anyway so I won't bother GoodoldGold with the question.

My refunds from PS vendors have been by check.

Thanks diamondseeker2006 for that information.

Ouch! A good lesson for all of us. Be sure to discuss what may seem like an unimportant small detail!
