Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about GSI. Is it a reputable lab? How stringent and consistent are they with their grading? Would you say that GSI is comparable to EGL?? Thanks!!

the problem with these labs is that they are inconsistent. for accurate, reliable grading I would stick with GIA or AGS.

never heard of GSI they must be another Micky Mouse grading lab... :knockout:

I haven't heard of them either. Seems the rule is that, if it isn't GIA or AGS....be careful.

Crap.

I went into a national chain jewelry store once to look for an e-ring.

Salesperson (SP): "The ones in this cabinet are certified."

Me: "Certified by whom? GIA?"

SP: "Who are they? We actually have three people grade the diamond."

Me: "Who are they?"

SP: "There are three labs that do the testing and they come together to agree on the grading."

I look at certification card she puts on the counter and read "GSI" and "Dallas, Toronto, Mumbai."
I drift off and begin to wonder if they get together in the geographical middle and where that might be.

SP: "So, this is a 1 carat right here."

I confirm that that is what was written on the card. It also said I1 for clarity. I was a little impressed that it didn't say SI1 instead.

thanks guys! i will stay away from GSI.

Never heard of them.
