Be honest, studies show that only 65% of Americans shower/bathe everyday. No judgement, just curious.

Feel free to add explanation :)

I’ll start. I have to shower (including hair wash) at least once a day. Sometimes due to gym schedule, I take another quick shower to rinse off, although I don’t wash my hair more than once a day.

In the morning and before bed. I have nightmares that I forgot to shower or didn’t have time and go to work only to get there and look desperately for a shower stall (think college dorm). It’s a recurring dream and I’m always so exhausted after it. When I get to the shower I realize I forgot my razor and deodorant. So then I realize that my mom lives down the street, because she does, and then I set off to shower at her house and ditch work. But I digress. Needless to say, I consider showering every important.

I prefer twice a day, but its so hot right now id go for an extra 3rd cold shower if possible
In the winter maybe twice a day, depends but definatly if i just changed the sheets !

But I don't shampoo my hair every day, im not a teenager any more so about every 2 days, if i washed it every day it would get (more) damaged and break off
Ive found if i can hold out an extra day my hair is sooooo soft afterwards so if im just going to be at home and no one will see me its every 3 days

My parents usually come to California in the summer, but this year they visited in the fall/winter. They were shocked at how mild and dry the weather was and decided showering every other day was enough since they are older and don’t get out of the house much. However, in between shower days, they would do a “cowboy wash”.....don’t know where I first heard this term, but pretty self-explanatory haha.

I'm in South Africa, and I'm in a part of the country particularly hard hit by the worst drought in a thousand years. We are expected to use less than 25l (6.6 gallons) of water per person per day, up to a maximum of 100l (26.42 gallons) per day per household. Our dams are empty. Our taps are dry. The town switches water off entirely on Friday nights and only switches the water back on on Monday mornings.

Pre-drought I used to bath at night and shower in the morning. On especially hot days I used to shower three? Maybe four times a day?

Nowadays I shower for 2 minutes once every 2-3 days, and the rest of the time I "cowboy wash". I feel dirty all the time.

In February last year I simply couldn't cope anymore with washing my hair. It was mid-back length and full and thick and curly and I just couldn't cope anymore. So I had a Britney moment and cut it all off. I was angry and frustrated so I did it myself with my sewing scissors in the bathroom mirror by torch light because on that day I didn't have electricity either  It was a mess and my grandmother was horrified when she found out, but it's more manageable now :D

I shower every morning, either first thing, or on my gym / running days, I'll take the kids to school, head out to exercise, then back & in the shower.

I only wash my hair every other day, sometimes every 3 days if it's holding up well with no frizz. I have very curly hair & it dries too much with frequent washing.

When I smashed up my foot I only showered every 3rd day. It was 6 months of @&@&@. You have no idea how long it took to “wrap” my lower leg to waterproof it and how difficult it is to transition from a knee scooter onto a shower chair in a small bathroom! My foot wasn’t to touch the ground. And it didn’t. I went through a million baby wipes I think! I had the hairdresser wash my hair every 3 days.
otherwise every night.

How often do you change your towels ?
As we are just the two of us we shear a towel but change it at least every day
if we have visitors i rush into the bathroom and put out a clean towel

I spent most of 2018 boarding in the village i worked in, only coming home at the weekend
The family i stayed with had a towel each but only changed it once a week

And didn't use top sheets

Blech!!!!!

I shower 2x a day, hair wash in the morning. But for environmental reasons I keep it brief and I don't take baths anymore.
I miss it though...

Don't get me started on the towels and sheets. I use small bath towels and change daily ...again an attempt to balance hygiene and ecological reasons...
I have mini towels that get washed after every use in the powder room for guests. No need to wash your hands if you use filthy shared towels.

Our second Au pair didn't change his sheets once in 3 months. And lied about it. Had to toss the down pillow and have the down comforter professionally cleaned . Was Livid

Shower daily.

Sheets and towels changed weekly.
Washcloth changed daily.
Undies and sox, daily.
Pants and outer shirts, after 3 or 4 wearings, depending on season.
T-shirts, that touch my skin, daily.
Dishtowels daily, since we wash and dry dishes by hand.

Depends on time of year. Always at least once a day but when we are cycling I shower at least once if not more and also take a bath so up to three times a day. They are quick showers though as I always shower right before I take a long bath. So one normal length shower and then maybe a quick one before my bath. I only take baths when we are at the beach house though because I love the tub there.

As for laundry I love doing my towels and nightgown daily (at beach house only as it is easy to do laundry there) and sheets at least once weekly if not more often. It is so nice to get into our bed with freshly laundered sheets...ahhh. But it is a luxury I reserve for our beach house so not all year round. At our Brooklyn home I do laundry at least twice a week (towels washed every few days) and sheets at least once weekly.

I wash my hair every other day generally but if I sweat a lot that day I will wash it daily if necessary.

ETA: I don't wear deodorant usually. Don't need it.

I shower every other day in the winter. My skin and scalp are too sensitive for daily in the winter. Every day in the summer.

HI:

I am sure I developed eczema from my hot both every night. Dropped the tub bath--although I do miss it in the winter. Shower daily (more if I go to the pool) and wash my hair EOD.

I am fussy with towels also.

cheers--Sharon

Yes i got an unpleasant eczema reaction behind both knees this summer due to my long daily baths. I just paid more attention to moisturizing but I did have to apply eczema topical meds to get it under control. Baths are so civilized but our bodies aren’t cooperating at times. :(

I shower and wash my hair every second day. For most of my adult life it was daily, but then when I was pregnant with twins, I had complications and was on strict bedrest and not allowed to bathe often. During that time I realized I could do fine not bathing daily. Also, as I've gotten older, I find bathing quite drying for my skin, so if I could bathe even less, I would! But also - I live in Canada where we have hot weather for only a few months of the year.

For non-shower days when my hair feels a little wilted, I have discovered dry shampoo. Batiste original is my favorite by far.

I shower every evening so I'm nice & clean to hop into bed! Due to ongoing drought it's always 5 mins max so I have to hurry to wash my hair. I shave my legs using small sink of water. Sheets & towels get changed once a week although I do change my hand-towels, tea towels and pillowcase twice a week for hygiene reasons.

The best shower is a hot one after a really cold misserable walk in the rain
It makes it so worth while
Before the Jeep we had a little Suzuki 'no top' SJ413
We would be out in the mud and cold and rain all day long, then a freezing drive home on the highway.
Best days ever !

Do you mean to include the weekend?

Prior to having a baby, I shower every day (twice a day - am and pm). Sometimes 3 depends on gym time. I used to go to the gym daily. I also need to feel clean before bedtime and I have to shower before going to work as well.

Now that I have a baby, shower, what's that? :lol-2: Bath is absolutely impossible. The gym is non-existent.

To compromise (because I'm afraid of my own body odor), I shower once a day. Actually, to remind me to shower, I have to mark it on a calendar otherwise yes I will forget. Lack of sleep and all that jazz.

My baby daughter bathed every day. She loves water and she sleeps afterward. Not always but one can hope.

I will catch up once she is in preschool (hopefully this December)

My sister loves that hair product also! I often use OSIS Powder Play Lite on my non hair wash day....

I feel your pain. I was roommates with a good friend years ago for 6 months and during that time he never washed his sheets, so his room always stank.

Now he is a weekly houseguest at ours on weekends and our guest room smells like his body odor. He used to shower daily but not anymore, and our cream couch in the guest room is stained brown with his sweat. We have tried hinting but it doesn't work. :(

Oh how awful
Its a really hard one, he must be a really close friend to visit so often
To offend or not ?
Maybe a couch cover is the price of friendship and an easy out
maybe he grew up in a drought prone place.
For the sake of friendship maybe give him the benefit of the doubt at this stage

We had a limited water supply when i grew up so we knew how to take short showers and save the water for the garden

When my dearly loved father in law lost the plot with altzimers the time came for him to go into a specialist facility
My SIL helped clear out his house, said she just threw his sheets out, they were beyound washing, it had been so long since they were changed
I just love hoping into freshly changed sheets, it's one of life's simple pleasures and i feel sorry for people who don't get this
