I saw a diamond at union diamond via the pricescope search at a very nice price and asked to check availability, At first the Sale Manager confirmed that it was available, and that she would be bringing it in in order to help me get the images. The next day however, i received an email saying that the stone was in fact not available. When i inquired when it was sold, the sales rep said that the cutter overseas made a mistake and the stone was not available. I now however still see the stone online on the Union Diamond page, but now, there is no longer any pricescope discount... In fact, for those trying, there is no long any discount displayed for any union diamond stone linked via pricescope... (Could someone please test and verify ?)

Opinions ? Is it possible that Union Diamond didn't want to honor a price and so gave an excuse and changed/updated the system ? Is it my particular computer which has an issue and you guys still see the discount ? (Wouldn't that be embarrassing...). Is it that they decided that they were giving pricescope members to much discount and are removing it ? Have i ruined it for everyone ? Oh God Nooooooo ! Sorry guys !

The exchange was done via email and i have a screenshot of the original diamond page with the discounted price, so I have some measure of evidence.

Many times a diamond has been sold, but the database has not yet been updated to reflect that.

Yep, i understand that, could you help verify if you still receive a discount when viewing a union diamond linked from pricescope so that i can know its simply a problem with my computer ?

From the link, removing the "&ptc=PS" or searching for the stone manually via union diamonds page or just searching google for the union diamond diamonds stock number and following google's link should display the non-pricescope price.

I know some retailers do not directly display the price scope discount, but Union Diamond did.

I'm new so bear with me but where is the PS discount usually shown and what does it look like? A pic of the original page would be nice.

The page looks the same, only the price displayed is different.

Random examples with Random Stones.

For Union Diamond, clicking on the link after search from price scope, the URL would be :
http://www.uniondiamond.com/AE0593702&ptc=PS

The fastest way to get the Non-Price Scope Price, just remove &ptc=PS, making it (NOTE, no longer works for union diamond as mentioned)
http://www.uniondiamond.com/AE0593702

B2C uses another format, the following is the pricescope link,
http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-2292379-1.00-carat-Round-diamond-G-color-VS2-Clarity.aspx?sku=2292379&utm_source=pricescope.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pricescope.com

To get the normal price, remove the ending to obtain
http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-2292379-1.00-carat-Round-diamond-G-color-VS2-Clarity.aspx

But for most other pricescope partners the link is the normal you will have to try requesting for the discount from the Person serving you.

Ok thanks for the quick repsonse and it tested it. Both prices are the same so I guess no discount. Still working with B2C though.

Thank you for helping me to confirm that the discount is no longer visible to others as well. If you are interested in purchasing from them, you might still be able to get a discount by informing the person handling your sales that you are a member of pricescope and if a better price is available.

Please note that I have nothing against Union Diamond. From a business point of view however, i do understand that it makes more sense to remove the discount from the link and simply say "Ask your sales rep" as they would then have more maneuvering room with the price. What I was curious about was that this change in the union diamond link was displayed so quickly after the strange turn of events I encountered.

Please note that it was a virtual inventory, and the sales rep checked with the cutter before replying me 1 day later via email saying that the stone was available. Only after i tried to confirm the price and provided the price scope link did it suddenly become unavailable. And now, the link no longer displays the discount. Co-incidence ? If so, then good. But if the stone was still available... well, lets not go there yet. Hahaha

So why don't you call and inquire about another stone then ask for the discount yourself. Then you can At least confirm if the discount is still in place. I never knew there was a discount at all and I've searching various vendors here and the web and could not figure out some of the price differences until I was told just last night that you get a PS discount from some vendors.

I am not going to discuss the discount because I have no answers.
However a virtual stone being unavailable happens a lot.
It goes like this:
The diamond owner("DO") uploads their database to the lists.
Vendor calls, DO checks their database, yes its available.
Vendor calls back and says ship it, DO looks for the actual diamond and it is not there.
Someone sold it and did not update the DO's database.
Other times it gets sold between the 2 vendor calls.

The next time the DO uploads their list it is removed from the lists, then some time after that the vendors own list gets updated from that, then some time after that the PS list is updated from the vendors list and the stone is not shown.
It can stay up for weeks sometimes depending on timing.

Hi darkadam,

We're so sorry that there has been some confusion regarding this stone. We've done some more checking and the stone is available. We'd love for you to contact us so that we can figure out where the confusion came from and resolve it so that it never happens to another customer. I see that you have a screen shot of the price that was originally quoted to you which is great! If you would please send us a copy of that screen shot, we'd love to work with you to figure all of this out. Thanks so much!

Hi Megan, thank you very much for the reply, i really appreciate it.
I will attempt to contact you soon and we'll see how it goes form there :)

@Megan
Hi Megan, could you let me know who to contact or could you email me your contact **edited by moderator. please do not post personal information online for your own protection**? No one at Union Diamond seems willing to pass me your email to follow up as you are not a sales staff...

Also, pardon me for not posting my official email here, as i do not wish to post it online. Rest assured i will reply you via my official email. Or if you could get my official email from the person handling my account and email me the information directly, that would be great. Thank you !

@Everyone else
Sorry for bringing this thread up as i have no no other way of contacting Megan.
