In tapatalk so can't see the poll but I have never tried it. Never been inclined to taste it, personally.

I have no idea of which one I had... It was offered at a function- canapé kinda situation...or was that part of entree?? Can't remember... Hehe. I know it tasted salty and I really liked it....

I'm fairly squeamish about food and have not tried caviar, though I've been to a few events where I could have tried this pricey delicacy for free.

Caviar- from memory the texture and taste is like really small salty peas - yeah that is probably the best I can come up with..

I like trying new things, however I would draw the line at tongues, kidney, brains etc... Given my heritage, I should be fine with all of this... But i guess if I have been plied with "some" alcohol, I could be game...!!!!

But functions are the best place I think to try different things, esp small servings just incase I don't like it.

Not something that I appreciate, lumpfish roe is good enough for me. :)) However, I do like roe such as salmon and flying fish etc. in sushi.

Speaking of being 'plied' I might try caviar if I was naked in a bubble bath with Alexis Colby plying me Dom Pérignon champagne.
I mean, then and there, how could you say, "No thanks."?
Maybe she'd let me try on her big rock!

Once so far, at the caviar bar in the Belmond Grand Hotel, St. Petersburg Russia. Sampled several types ranging from, in diamond quality equivalent, SI2 to IF. The most expensive, Almas Iranian Beluga caviar, tasted the best. I liked it but not enough to become a fan.

I've never had kidneys or brain, but beef tongue (lengua) is soo delicious. It's slow cooked and fall apart tender, similar to a pulled pork. If you are ever at a Mexican restaurant and see a lengua taco, try it!

eta - I've also had Cod tongues (newfie thing) and they were amazing too. Like a more meaty fish texture.

I had it once at a fancy event, but I wasn't impressed. Somewhat salty.
I would not hesitate to try it again, however.

Yes. I'm a meato-vego-arian. I'll eat all vegetables, fruit, grains, with only occasional meat, fish, eggs. We're a small group, but fierce.

I eat roe regularly, but real caviar I only have very rarely. Maybe once every couple years.

My parents would get champagne and a tin of caviar to celebrate our yearly family vacation. They encouraged my sister and I to try new foods so I sampled it as a young child. I didn't mind it, but what I really loved were the accoutrements my mom served with the caviar--toast points, hard cooked egg crumbles and creme fraiche!

Never and it isn't because I don't like it.

The species of Sturgeon that true caviar comes from has been decimated by poachers. It's not a fishery I would ever support by buying it's products.

Vegetarian. Though I eat eggs I do not consider this the same as the animal is killed for the harvest

I have a good friend who makes his own out of salmon roe. He serves it with a salmon dip on crackers and it is TDF!

Not so mean to the fish if you caught her with the intention of eating her and you find that she is full of eggs. Nothing left to do but make caviar!

Lumpfish caviar, over a baked potato with butter/sour cream. Delicious!

I probably eat it 3-4 times per year. I'm not a big potato eater.

Right it would make sense for him to use all parts of his kill, it would not make sense for me to eat food made from a dead fish.

To each their own thoigh I've never been one to force others, or really even talk about much, my dietary habits. What's right for menisnt right for everyone :)

Another that has the roe in sushi all the time, my 7 year old orders that much to the astonishment of people when we go to sushi places... Real jars of caviar only a couple of times a year.

I have tried real caviar only 2, 3 times in my life. I remember liking it. But that like Bluefin tuna, would not intentionally order or buy can help it as this point.
If you include other kinds of fish roe then whenever I am visiting my family they are sure to get some taramosalata (made from carp roe) since they know I love it yum!

I chose never even tho I tried it ONCE and nearly barfed.

Along that line I was dating a guy who was a wine importer and we went out to dinner 2-3 times a week when I lived in NYC. He once tricked me into eating FROGS LEGS as an appetizer. I had to go to the ladies room and barf. Seriously. I only eat food I can identify anymore.

that relationship died a quick death after that.
