Oh you are right!

I just looked back on the threads.

Now I have to start looking for a steamer.

Thanks

Is it harmless to clean your ring in the ultrasonic? Or is it something you should not do all the time?

I clean mine everyday in the US. On weekends I dig out my steam cleaner.

Haha, I love PS because I don''t feel so crazy about ultrasonic-ing my e-ring everyday (sometimes twice)

so rarely it is embarrassing. I mean, it looks so great clean but I am lazy and have never hit upon the perfect thing for cleaning it well. I am always rushed or too lazy..

For the first 2 years I cleaned mine daily in the US and on weekends with the Jewel Jet. Once I was too pregnant to wear my rings and now that my daughter is in my life, once a week--if that. It''s so sad! I miss having my diamonds super clean

I clean my ring every couple of days with jewelry solution and a baby toothbrush. Looks good to me but I would love to have an ultrasonic.

About once a week - I really should buy a decent US and clean it more often.

If it is a diamond (many gems shouldn''t go in one), and doesn''t have pave/melee in the setting, it''s safe to use as often as you''d like.

I hand clean mine every day except when I use the US, which is twice a week.

I clean my ring just about every day with cleaning solution and a baby toothbrush... I heard that US cleaners are not good for pave because the melee stones can fall out. Is that true?

Yes, you should not clean pave rings in an ultrasonic.

I clean mine once or twice a week in jewelry cleaner. I bought an ultrasonic but haven''t unpacked it and read the directions!

I clean mine everytime I wash my hands when I''m wearing it.

Then it goes in the US twice a week.

You have to be careful what coloured stones you put in - my tsav is loupe clean so I feel it''s pretty safe, but I wouldn''t put anything with inclusions in - and there is a no-no list.

Everyday with solution and soft brush. I have an US, but haven''t had the nerve to put my new setting into it because of the pave, even though the pave is bead set and appears very strong. I usually do my other rings and jewellery once a week in the US. I''m strongly considering a steamer, but will probably wait a while on that.

About once a week, but I don''t wear my ring everyday. I just use a soft toothbrush and some jewellery solution. I don''t have anything else.

So I was reading through old threads on the subject, and one PSer said she used her cappacino machine to steam clean her jewelry.
So I tried it, and it worked great!
But I think that my husband is going to have me committed - he seems to think a cappacino machine is for making cappacino....

LOL, I literally clean my rings every day. :-)

Every day with solution and a baby toothbrush. I have an US cleaner but would never put my ER in it, too much pave.

I was caught doing this the other week. The darn machine is so loud at times that I didn''t notice DH sneak up behind me. He just stared at me, continued getting something to drink and left the kitchen. He knows better than to ask or comment!

Only when I pop by my jeweller's, which makes for one dirty ring.

Pandora,
What's the best way to clean coloured stones?

Rings undergo wear & tear though. Even a 3-stone ring can take a knock that loosens a stone ever-so-slightly and begins the process of eventually getting looser. Rings with many tiny diamonds are much more susceptible to 'life' so even if they begin US safe it makes sense to care for them by hand.

Guynalogy - I know my sports car is well made but I still choose to hand-wash it.

My lady used to put her e-ring in the US I bought her once per week. Now I catch her doing it every other day. Is this common? Does she need help?

I clean my e-ring as per the schedule that Leon suggested - not more than once per week, but not less than once every two week so that dirt and grime do not get a chance to build up. So, I clean it with a baby toothbrush and some jewelery cleaner or diluted liquid dish soap about once a week. While I''m cleaning it, my US safe rings and my diamond studs go in for a jacuzzi.

Why not?
