I change ours once a week during the winter/ cold weather and once every 5 days in the summer/ in hot weather. This includes 2 bottom sheets, duvet/ comforter cover and a heavier top cover, and of course all pillow cases. I'd love to change them more often (just luuurvvee the feel of fresh sheets) but our mattress is very heavy and is a pain to do, plus it wouldn't be too environmentally friendly!

Just wondering how often you change yours?!

hi phoenix :)

this is a real issue for me and something i''m just a wee tad compulsive about.

so - twice a week for the bottom sheet and the pillow cases we actually sleep on, once a week for the rest at the LEAST. we have dogs, tho, and they love to sleep on the bed, so more weeks than not we get paw prints on the sheets, and they have to be changed an extra time. so all up, i''d say i change the bottom sheet about 120/130 times a year, and the top sheet etc 70 times a year. i have the quilts and blankets laundered most months for the same reasons - paw prints. and we steam clean the carpets probably every 3 months! (needless to say, we have a lot of *wood* floors!)

i once stayed at a friend''s house for 2 months to help them do a big house renovation prior to sale. the whole time i was there, the sheets on their bed were never changed. the sheets were black in color - but i suspect they would have been close to that even if they''d started out white!

seriously gross. i couldnt stand it in the end and changed them myself before i left.

(PS i LOVE your earrings!)

I''m a careless, slovenly housekeeper in all other respects, but my sheets are changed twice a week and aired every day for a few hours. I don''t care how the rest of it looks, as long as I can get into crisp clean sheets. I need both of the bedroom windows to be wide open for a few hour each day too. We live near the coast, I love the clean salt tang in the air.

Once a week.

I, too, must air the place out - even if it''s freezing outside!

Once a week. I am in a situation right now with my sheets. My fave set is having trouble staying on, the red set that I like, DH doesn''t. He says they grab his underwear when he tries to roll over. Then I have the cream set, which arent flannel, but feel kind of flannely (sp?). I need to get new sheets. It is so hard because they all feel the same when you open the package and then different after you wash them and DH is so picky about how things feel. I always get at least 300tc. I am not making the big bucks so really 300-400 is the best I can get. Sorry to kinda thread jack, but do have any suggestions on brands I can get?

radiantquest -

i get mine from costco - 620 thread count, $69.99 for a queen sized set, $75 for king.

been getting them there since i moved to the States 7 years ago and the first pair i bought still looks exactly like the last pair i bought a few months ago.

they''re also my ''go-to'' housewarming gift.

radiant, do you have any stores like Ross/TJ Maxx/Marshall''s around you? They always have nice sheets for pretty cheap. I''d try to stick to 400tc and up, if you can. "Sateen" (not satin) sheets are usually really nice. Also, make sure you''re getting the correct pocket size, if you''re having a problem with sheets staying on.

Twice a month. I have king sized bedding and not only is it additional wear on it to wash it more often, it takes a lot of water and a lot of drying time to get everything washed/dried. Since I''m renting now and don''t have a W/D in my unit I really have to watch the amount of laundry I''m doing.

I''m more concerned with laundering my pillows and replacing them frequently. Those things get far dirtier than you''d think even with pillowcases on them. Ick.

Same here!

Sheets (top, bottom, & mattress cover) every other day -- daily if I can manage it. Blankets & comforter at least once a week.

Every 5 to 7 days. I wash them in hot water.

Every week in the sanitary cycle. Should probably do it twice a week since we have 2 dogs, but the bed is always occupied by one of the dogs or my hubby is taking a nap.

Yes we do have those stores and it is usually from them or Kohls that I get them from. I know all about the sateen. That is what the red ones are. My faves are not coming off because the pocket size isnt correct it is because the elastic is worn out, but only on the one side. lol.

Thanks for the sugestions.

Once a week. This is really the only thing I am a tad anal about...

We got 600 tc sheets from Bed Bath & Beyond. If you look at the clearance section, you can find a King set for around $20.

Usually once a week, sometimes once every two weeks if we spent a few nights away from home during that time. I change the pillowcases more often.

My sheets actually wear out from my sheet changing schedule and heavy duty washing. I change sheets sometimes twice a week, sometimes once a week. Depends on how my husband''s allergies are doing. I use detergent with bleach and the heavy duty hot water cyle. I never wash anything else with the sheets.

I also wash the dog once a week, but somehow, she''s never prepared emotionally for the situation, and she complains a lot.

I usually wash the sheets and pillowcases once a week. Blankets are washed once a month, and our comforter is washed every couple of months at the cleaners (it''s a King, and it doesn''t really fit in our washer).

ditto. And pillow cases more frequently.

Every other Saturday, but I only sleep in *my* bed 5-6 nights a month. The dogs get it dirty - especially this time of year when the snow is melted and my rock driveway is a muddy swamp. I wipe their feet off at the door, but inevitably they jump on my bed right after that.

Once a week like clockwork, unless one or both of us is sick. Then I wait until we''re well the change the germy sheets.

I change ours once a week.

There was another thread on here recently about bedtime rituals, and the sheet changing concept popped into my mind, then. I noticed that a lot of people don''t shower before going to bed. I have always taken a hot bath or a steamy shower before hopping into bed. I converted my husband when we got married to doing the same thing. Now, both of us *have* to shower before bedtime.

Why would you bother with having clean sheets on the bed if you''re going to jump into it dirty from the day?!?! I do wash my hair in the sink every morning, though.

I shoot for once each week but with a dog and three cats it''s often twice per week. I buy Costco sheets too-they''re terrific.

Every other week, pillowcases every week. Now that we have a W/D, I''m going to do them more often. I looooooove the feeling of clean sheets.

Every week and a half or so, I don''t have a set schedule. I LOVE clean sheets, I just hate washing them, lol.

it totally depends... on the time of the year, the time of the month, what we''ve been doing...
