How much tighter is an Ering with Wband?

I have a question for ladies who wear their rings as a set. I ordered my Ering which arrived so large that I falls off on left finger and barely hangs on the right finger. We had it remade, then it came back too small. I think this might be because we measured it during 40 degrees weather and by the time it came, we had 80 degrees weather. Instead of having them remake another ring, I decided to go with the previous larger ring because I figured that with the wedding band, the fit might be more snugged. Moreover, both rings will be eternity paved, we can't re-size them in the future. I'm leaning towards the larger side. What do you ladies think? Anyone have experience with a loose ring that tighten up when worn with their wedding band?

Each band is 2mm so 4mm total.

my rings definitely are snugger with the two together. When i get my 5 stone made im going up a quarter size.

If you can resize it later i would go bigger, worse case you have to put a sizing bead or two in.

I totally 2nd the idea of going bigger with sizing beads. Especially since it's a full eternity. It gives you wiggle room incase your ring size changes.

I would go down either 1/4 or 1/8 from your original set that was too large on you.

Thanks Niel and Ponder for your replies. I feel better about my decision. Sizing beads are a great idea, but that might be overkill with my "V" shank.

The ring is too big. Excuse the gruesome knuckle hair.


I figured if they made it smaller by the red increment, it'll should be fine, but it came back 4 weeks later being too small.


If you look closely, there's an indentation on my finger where the ring sat after I was able to force it on. I can't get it off without running my finger under cold water and lubricating it with soap. Still it scrapes my knuckles.


If I had to pick, the perfect Ering size would be a size between these two. Do you ladies think my wedding band when worn with the larger Ering will make up for this difference?

I've been anywhere from 5.5 to 7.75 in the past three years due to pregnancy and right now my rings on my finger are a 7.25, a 7 and a 6.5 in between the two to tighten them up. I can wear a 6.25 2mm band by itself and it's a tad too small to be comfortable, but my 7.5 sized ring that's 2.3mm is way to big to be worn on it's own without it flying off my finger. Sooo right now I'm wearing the 7.5 2.3mm then a 6.5 1.5mm then a 7 2.3 mm engagement ring and somehow if works! I hope that makes sense? If I could resize all my rings without worrying about the pace stones, they all would be 6.75 lol

Yep.

The reality is your ring finger will probably change in size at some point. Mine went from a 5.5 to a 7. Of course everyone is different, and yours might stay the same for a while or only go up just a little. But it's better to go with the bigger size just in case.

I was really anxious about the sizing of this ring, because I didn't want to waste the jeweler's money and my time cause it takes so long to make another ring. When the smaller version was too tight, I seriously debated on keeping it to wear as a pinky ring like Kim Kardashian because I'm so sick of this ring making process. I wanted to confirm the final details so the shop can pave the set and put an end to this 3+ month wait. After getting you ladies' advice, I went with the larger size. I also have rheumatoid arthritis. It isn't so bad now, but eventually, I'll have bone erosion and my knuckles will enlarge. I figured that I'll go custom so I could ask the jeweler to make the "V" shank which stops the large ring from spinning and when my finger gets larger, I could always shave off some of the thick shank. If I add on sizing beads on top of this, it'll become very uncomfortable to wear. I think I'll just wear the rings on my right hand until my left fingers grows into it. Crossing my fingers for it to at least fit the right ring finger! Hopefully, I can have my diamond back soon.

Mine are all different. Right now I have on a 6 wedding band with a 5.75 e-ring; they both spin a little but they are snug to pull off. I believe they are each 3mm on top, tapering to about 2mm. My original e-ring and band are both 1.8mm and they are size 6.25, I think, and spin. I wear a 6.5 eternity on the same finger. My wide band e-ring (temporary setting of an inherited stone) is all the way at a 7.25, but it's too big. I wear it with the original band and the eternity so it is on a wider part of my finger. The more rings I have on a finger the bigger I need them to be. One eternity (6.5) on my right hand is too big by itself but snug once I add another eternity ring and a vintage band.

Finger sizing is funny; I can slide on and comfortably wear a 5.25 ring guard on the same finger (my original ring size 25 years ago) since it has a tiny band. Overall I think I wear a 6 on that finger unless the ring is unusually wide (need bigger) or thin (smaller).

My rings definitely sit differently on my finger depending on how many I'm wearing. I have everything made in a size 8 now - so I can flip from 1 hand to the other, and I notice that as I stack 3 on 1 finger, they do get snugger but still easy enough to remove.

If you are having a diamond eternity made, I'd go with the larger size and put in a sizing bead.

I agree with the others that have said to go larger with sizing beads. You mentioned that you thought that this may be uncomfortable, and I have no personal experience, but from what I've heard from posters here, is that you don't even know that they are there. If you are still concerned, then I would forego having a full eternity ring for now, or instead order a full eternity with sizing bar or 3/4 eternity. Not wearing my rings in the hot weather, or in the future (arthritis, pregnancy etc) wouldn't be an option for me. I'd want to wear my ring all the time.
