Here are the specifics:

1.09 carats
dimensions: 5.74 x 5.67 x 3.95

GIA Cert #: 12405346
CUT: ASSCHER STYLE
COLOR: G
Clarity: VS2
Depth: 69.7%
Table: 59%
Polish VG
Symetry G
Flour: None
Girdle: Med Thick

I went to ROYAL ASSCHER's web site and searched their diamonds to research their cut(dimensions) etc...
what i found:

the DEPTH's of the ROYAL ASSCHER's were btwn 65.5% & 73.7%
however only 3 of their 25 diamonds were above a 70% depth...so most of the depths were evenly distributed btwn 65.5 to 68.9% range

the TABLE's of the ROYAL ASSCHER's were btwn 54% to 61% however ONLY 2 were above 59%

I am curious as to what the well informed that are here would think would be a price range for this diamond...

thanks in advance.

good observation as far as table and depth...

I too am interested in somewhat the same interest....

I would like to know if a depth of 63% with a table of 74% is bad in an EMERALD cut(I think that is somewhat close to the Assher charactoristics)?

I think carat size would also help in guessing an aprox price for such specs.

Also, I have read to try and avoid thicker girdles on fancy cuts like emeralds(yours sound fine being a med-thick), but hey, what do I know.

good luck

BearMan-
just something to keep in mind...(as far as asschers go) specs are a good place to start. You can narrow down your search quite a bit, but you really have to see the stone to know if you like it b/c they ALL look so different (even royal asschers can look totally different from one another)! Its a beautiful cut (my favorite!) but just be sure you see tons of pictures (or better, see in person) and know what "look" you are going for. Eventually you will see one that makes your heart skip!
Good luck!

whoops!
i just read the title of your post...sorry about that.
for a square emerald (generic asscher):
Id say in a local store expect to pay about $6,500 - $7,000 (i am basing this off my local jewler b/c this is exactly what i was looking for!)
on the internet? you can do a search here on pricescope.
for a royal asscher:
about $11k (ouch!) but they are awesome (my opinion)

OK so my eductation continues....

the above listed stone is not a RA but is listed on the GIA as a Square Cut Emerald.

The price i have been qouted on the above listed diamond is

$3700 I unfortunately will have to pony up all the dough to see the ring(solomon Bros. has a 100% money back guarantee)...or drive 11 hours to Atlanta from the OUTER BANKS in NC to see it...I only had to put a $500 100% REFUNDABLE Deposit on it for them to bring it in...I do have a friend in the Atlanta area that is going to look at the stone prior to me having it shipped(looking for any BLATANT issues)...but he is also a novice.

this is only my opinion. (disclaimer)

BUT
the price sounds really good...
Did you do a search on pricescope to see what numbers came through?

That said, i would be skeptical of any place that isnt accommodating enough to take a few pictures for you.

Just me, but there is no way I would buy an asscher (sq.em) without even seeing a picture of it. Even IF i could return it.

i just did a search here at pricescope and it turned up the same diamond...within about $20 of the price i have been qouted...

I am going to ask them to supply me with pics once they have recd the diamond

I do appreciate your help.

do you know what the premium of a TRUE ROYAL ASSCHER IS??

what could i expect to pay for a TRUE ROYAL ASSCHER/carat...i just found out there is a jewler within 1 1/2 hrs of me that is authorized to sell the REAL DEAL...

well, IF the dealer near you can get one in and assuming there is one available in your range (can you tell it's been a l-o-n-g process?) it would be about 11K or maybe closer to 10k.
quite a premium, and some people will tell you not worth it, but it was for me.
in the end i just ended up w/ a smaller diamond, but i LOVE it! royal asshers are simply amazing!

BM -- I just bought an beautiful 1.53ct G VS2 Asscher / Sq Emerald from Solomon brothers in Atlanta. Quality place and their Asscher prices seem very competitive with Internet vendors.

I suggest you call Susan D. from Solomon Brothers. She is the sales woman who helped me select the diamond & the setting. Susan is a GIA Diamond Graduate. The main phone number is 404 266 0266.

Another nice thing about Solomon Brothers is they have a 100% upgrade program so you can upgrade to a bigger/different diamond at any point in the future and they will apply 100% of your orig purchased diamond towards the price of the new diamond.

I chose to purchase an Asscher with a slightly larger table (mid-upper 60s) and lower debth (mid 60s) bc (1) i though it was beautiful and (2) bc the lower depth made the diamond look bigger compared to ones with a higher depths. Of course, if you're goal is to get a Sq Asscher that looks as close as possible to the Royal Asscher then your orig specs are right on.

Yes, I live in Atlanta.

I saw on another thread that you're want a Tiffany style setting. Thats exactly what I wanted also. I actually brought in a picture of the Tiffany's Lucida setting w/ me to the store (I printed it off the Tiffany website) .... and Solomon had a very similar looking setting from Martin Flyer that I bought.

I'm sure Sommer is a fine person to work with. However, I recommend asking for input from Susan also since she just helped me this week on what sounds like a very similar diamond/setting to what you are searching for. At the very least, she can show Sommer the setting that I bought and they can prob email you a picture of it.
