How much is this "Synthetic" Diamond ring worth?

My grandfather passed this down to my dad who has just passed it down to me and it's a large stone. Dad says it's "synthetic" and the ring has some hallmarks I can't make out yet. I wouldn't know where to begin finding it's value but thought I would start here. Is there any jeweler in Honolulu who can help appraise this ring? TIA

White synthetic diamonds (real diamond, just grown rather than mined) have only been available in that size for a couple years. Simulated diamonds (look like diamonds, but are not) have been around for over 40 years. If that ring is decades old, that stone could be cubic zirconia or YAG. Those are both synthetic gemstones (made by humans), but are not synthetic diamonds.

A local appraiser should be able to tell you more about the stone and ring:

Thank you EEFranklin!

Any other comments are welcome.

It is glass or paste. If it is a natural stone it is probably quartz or topaz. Whatever it is it has a very low RI - nothing like diamond.
