how much info does a dealer have????

Does anyone know how much information on a diamond that the dealer itself has on any particular stone? Do they do the tests on the stones before they head out to the B and M store or internet provider???
Or do they only have the GIA or AGS cert and thats about it.
If someone had the opportunity to buy from a dealer/importer would this provider have any information. . .does anyone know if they would allow it to be sent out for independent testing??

I have the same question. When a B&M vendor buy from the wholesaler or the dealer. Does he/she only look at the certificates only? It seems that all they have is the certificate.
