My wedding colors are black and red. I've had one heck of a time trying to find pretty, comfortable, red/black shoes. I finally found them. The problem? They cost $400! I don't know about yall... but that's insane (even though they are D&G). Would you pay that for the perfect shoes? Am I setting my heart on something I could find for cheaper? Opinions please!

The shoes:

I <3 shoes so much but personally, I would spend 400 on something else.

well I am not a shoe person so I would not spend more than $100! But it just depends on what your priorities are-if you spend the $400 on the shoes, what will you have to give up or cut back on?

I'm definitely a shoe girl. I had two pairs for my wedding - my dress was a pale nude/tea colour, so the shoes had to be nude-ish too. One pair was a pair of silk slingbacks from Gina London - they were ~$550 (ouch!) and second pair was a pair of silk ruffled flats from Zara which were ~$75.

I say if you can afford it, go for it!

Considering your other thread about being on a tight budget, I would skip the $400 shoes... unless I could wear them alot after the wedding.

The ONLY way I'd pay that much would be if: A) I loved them and would wear them often after the wedding and B) They were super comfortable.

Given the fact that this is the only acceptable pair you've found, I wouldn't buy them. Could you maybe go with a just red shoe instead of red and black? I went with cheap wedge heels that hardly anyone saw and they were super comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to go with them again.

Is it an option to buy plain shoes and have them dyed two colors?

Well I paid that much :knockout: . Actually my husband paid for them because I hate spending money on shoes and he loves shoes. But they were comfortable, and they not screaming wedding so I will be able to wear them again.

How much time do you have? You don't need the shoes until dress alterations start. I would wait and see what comes around. I waited until the week before the hem (and had been on several shopping trips) before I committed.

I paid about US$300 or so for mine, so they were not cheap. However, they are hot pink and a style I love so I will definitely wear them again. Also, I really wanted nice shoes! That said, no one will really see much of them under my dress so I could have easily gotten away with wearing something less expensive/more comfortable (as TG suggests, wise woman).

If you're concerned about price, I'd wait and shop around a bit more and see what you can find...

Unless you absolutely love them, can wear them again many times because they go with outfits you already have, and they are very comfortable, I wouldn't pay $400 for shoes if you have a tight wedding budget. I'd spend it on something else instead that is more visible to you and your guests.

I spent $300 on my perfectly purple Stuart Weitzmans, and I don't have a single regret. They are the perfect color, height, and style for my wedding, go fabulously with my dress, and I plan on wearing them every year on my anniversary with a LBD or some really smokin jeans...depending on how we celebrate.

Considering I was hoping for Christian Louboutins...$300 was actually about 1/3 of what I was expecting to spend...but I couldn't pass these guys up. I bought them on Zappos.com, so I have 365 days from the date of purchase to decide whether I want to keep them or not (so long as they're still in original condition)...so if that perfect pair of Loubies comes along...I may just snatch them up.

400 is a lot for a pair of shoes, especially if you're on a tight budget!

I did a quick search, and the selection for black and red heels that aren't too high is pretty limited, so I see how you're having a hard time finding a pair!

Cute, but heel may be too high: http://www.shoes.com/Shopping/produ...ky+Charm+Shoes+(Red/Black)&CAWELAID=242515474

I really like these, but they may be an acquired taste: http://www.zappos.com/vaneli-muriel-dark-red-carmine-suede

What I'd do:
Get a pair of plain red kitten heels, like these: http://www.zappos.com/fitzwell-yana-red-kid and add your own embellishment to the front. Etsy has a huge variety of 'hair accessories' that you could use, such as these: http://www.etsy.com/listing/44081980/fabric-flower-hair-clip-black-satin, or you can just google 'black hair bow' or 'black hair flower', etc.

Good luck, in any event!!

Excellent suggestion, Lynnie. I would also offer up these black shoe clips from Absolutely Audrey as options:

Brilliant! I love this idea!
It's not so much that we have a 'tight' budget. FI is okay up to 14K but I am *attempting* to pull it off within 10K. I would prefer that any 'extra' go to the dress (as yall said, visible). Thanks again for all the help!

CRAP CRAP CRAP!

Well.. I was looking for a good red 'base' shoe, and I found these:

http://www.zappos.com/me-too-stellina-red-satin

and loved them because they remind me of the Sex and the City 'blue shoes' that Carrie got. (Anyone with me? If not, here is the link)

Manolos:

http://www.shoeperwoman.com/2009/07/shoe-deja-vu-martinez-valero-does-manolo-blahniks-something-blue-pumps.html

Now... I would kill for those blue Manolos, but they are too expensive, and WAY too high.

Well... I found these:

http://www.zappos.com/rsvp-cassie-royal-blue-satin?zlfid=111

And they are PERFECT!

So the question is... do I go with the initial 'red shoe to match the wedding colors' or the 'something blue' route and LOVE them? I don't know! I like both, and I would like some input. Dear heavens... I didn't think shoes would be this hard!

ETA: Right now the shoe budget is at $100

Dress: $450 (1/2 off Badgley Mischka evening gown)
Shoes: $300 (Kate Spade Cobalt Keeden, full price)

I will never regret it.

I got pradas off ebay for $70. Yes they were worn once or twice but they are faboosh!

I LOVE those blue ones that you posted! They're gorgeous!

I think it depends on how much you love shoes in general and just how perfect they are. I spent about twice that because I "knew" it was the shoe for me, I bought them way before I even got my dress and only tried on one pair. However we could easily afford them so that made the decision easy, are you willing to sacrafice in another area, like a veil to get them?

I actually have 2 pairs of shoes that were bought for the wedding...lol

1. Kate Spade "Lover" in hot pink - $99 on clearance at the KS outlet
2. Christian Louboutin "Lady Sling 120s" in ivory patent - About $600 at Bluefly.com

I'm wearing the Loubie's but I guess I now have a great pair of hot pink heels :twirl: For me, the name was important - it's not to everyone and that's fine too. I had always dreamed of being able to wear Louboutin's on my wedding day and the price was right, they only had 1 pair available which was my size, and they were ivory to match my ivory dress. I swear it was destiny! lol
