I was so tempted to purchase the diamond with the specs below for $8990. I thought it''s a good deal but was hoping to get some buck off..they didn''t and i hesitated..What''s your thought ? Should I come back for it ?

Measurement: 6.86-6.89-4.16
table: 57 %
depth : 60.5 %
Facet: 1.2 - 2.2

Pavillion - 40.7
Pavi depth - 42.7
Triple Ideal (Polish, symm, proportion)

Flourence: Neglible

At least some sellers would make a case for not bargaining ( = "we set the best price upfront") and I am inclined to believe that this is the prevailing tactic. It is supposed to make an argument against the "mall" tactic of inflating prices first just to discount latter. Not sure what is this worth, but I am not surprised that bargaining did not work.

If dramatically better prices are to be had, it would likely not be here. But this is easy to see from a quick serch. AGS0 come at a bit of a premium, and the price is still in line with what GIA stones get listed for.

If anything, I would not call VVS a "good deal" - the grade comes as clean as the gool ol' VS2 for anything less inquisitive than a 10X loupe, just the price would be different... The good news? The price you mention seems good even among the F-VS2 with the same AGS pedigree

Thanks for your response Valerie !
Initally i was interested in a 1.226 carat, E, VS1 at a different place for about 10K.
It also AGS, with table 56%, depth 60.2%, crown 34.8/pavi 40.4 ..pav dia 42.4% with 15.5% height..
.7% to 1.6% facet with pointed and neglible...This one is an E color but has 1 lower clarity...
Does it make that much of a different on the color/clarity ? And is neglible fluorenscene has an impact on the price vs none fluoren? From what i heard, these specs are recommended ? Is one better than the other ?

Hi poorbastard,

At the clarity levels you are talking about, if you drop in clarity you will never see a difference, but it will make a big difference in the price. Basically anything to VS2 is almost always invisible to the eye from the top, and lots of SI1s are, and some SI2s. An E/VS1 is a beautiful combination. Many people think G/SI1 is the sweet spot since it is usually still very white and eye clean. Occasionally you can see a grade making inculsion from the side in the lower clarities, but it is pretty easy to check with the vendor before hand to understand what type of inclusions they are, what color, and where they are located. Dropping your clarity is the easiest way to up your size or cut or color or drop your price, without impacting what the diamond looks like.

Slight or neg flour will not impact the look of the diamond, but may give you a slight price break. Many people prefer slight flour. Flouresence doesn't become something to consider until it is medium, and then it usually isn't bad.

For that quality, I think the price is quite reasonable.

You won't see a different in color from E to F. I have a GIA certified G and I can't see any color or "warmth" whatsoever.
