How many mm will a bezel cover?

Hi everyone,
I hope I'm posting this in the right place.
If anyone has a bezel setting, around how many mm of your diamond or gemstone would the bezel cover? If I have a stone that's around 8mm in length, after it's bezelled, would only 7mm or 7.5mm be visible? Thank you!

I believe it depends on the style and width of the bezel and how the diamond is set in it. There are no standard answers. if you look at some of the threads on rings with bezel settings, you’ll see many different widths and thicknesses.
