If you don't have any paperwork, you should drop it into a reputable jeweller for assessment.

I'm going to guess quite a bit smaller than the above. A size 5 1/4 ring size is about 16mm in diameter measured at the knuckle. That's all we have to go on. You can estimate the dimensions based on that but my guess is about 8.0 x 5.0mm. That said, weight is the easiest of things with an unmounted stone. Nearly every jeweler or even pawn shop has a scale. Drop-in and have them weigh it. Most will be happy to help you out. Is it a diamond?

There are two questions with a squarish diamond:

how big is it

and

how big does it look

Assuming you're after an opinion of how big it looks to people who don't know the size - Set in a ring, I'd think it's at least 3ct.
