I mailed my diamond out Tues by registered mail and was told it would arrive by today, which is only 2 days. I thought registered mail took about a week and was pleasantly surprised when she said it would only be 2 days. But it hasn't arrived and I'm a little worried...
Does registered mail ever move as quickly as 2 days?

Registered mail from where to where? I'm in Ontario and you could send a blind courier pigeon with 1 wing, faster! Canada Post is not known for its stellar service....

Ha ha! I'm originally from Ontario as well so I know how slow the mail is there! I sent it from New Hampshire to San Francisco. She said I had the option of it arriving in a week or 2 days, and the price difference was only about 75 cents so I chose the 2 days.

HI:

My experience has been different than Enerchi--I have received mail overnight.....that said, my last Spess studs & diamond jackets from the US (to Canada) took a full 14 working days and the updates on the website were laggy. But came safe and sound.

cheers--Sharon

I've never had anything sent by registered mail arrive in two days - more like 7-10 days! There are no appreciable upgrades to their website until something arrives. It is, however, about the safest way to send something so try not to fret. It will arrive safe and sound and slow!

I've had the same experience. Registered mail is very slow, and I'm shocked to hear that there is supposedly a two-day option!

I really hope you get that diamond soon!!!!

Yeah, it's been *all* over the place for me! One time I sent a piece from CA to TX and it took over two weeks. A few months later I sent something else from exactly the same place to exactly the same place and it took 4 days!! It probably cycles with the weather in Greenland or something.

Thanks canuk-gal, Miss-Got-Rocks, and Haven!

No doubt it will arrive in a week or so, but I wish there was a way I could track it! And I wish she hadn't suggested it could be there in 2 days. It's going to be a looong week  .

at least 7 business days.

Double post.

I have sent things USPS registered several times.
I always assume it will take the full 15 days that are required before you can file a claim.
(I don't remember whether that's calendar or business days, look on the back of your receipt.)

The postal clerks always try to sell me Express or Priority service on a registered package.
I get mad and call the supervisor over because that's a scam and a rip off.
Even though they are happy to charge you extra for those faster services it does not move any faster, and they still tell you that you can't file a claim till the full 15 days have passed.

Registered travels very slowly because it must be signed for at every stop, and locked in safes overnight.
If it gets there any faster than the 15 days I consider myself lucky.

yup!!

Yep, that makes me soo mad, too!!! :angryfire:

There is no such thing as express or two day Registered Mail!!! They want to charge you extra postage when that package is going to get there on the same day regardless of whether you pay express or parcel post!

Across the country you can be looking at a week, 10 days, even 2 weeks depending on time of year. But I would be happy and surprised if it took less than a week.

Wait, I just sent some settings back to Van C and maybe I can look up how long it took!

Sent from east coast to SF 9/15 and arrived 9/21....so 6 days.

I work for the USPS. Frankly, I don't bother with Registered mail, I am way too impatient. Give me Express mail any day!

. . . even if you are mailing your $25,000 diamond?

If you want security AND speed with no value limit call Malca Amit.

I should have looked into Malca Amit. The reason I used registered mail was precisely for the insurance. I didn't think there was any other way to mail a package with insurance. I'm not so angry about having paid extra for the priority post, the difference was only about 25-50 cents. It's the false security of thinking my diamond would only be out of my hands for 2 days before it arrived safely in San Francisco. I know it will get there in about a week, but there's still the element of worry until it's actually there :angryfire: .

It took my package 7 business days for a trip that I could drive in under 8 hours myself. :nono:

Jeez, it arrived today--that's only 3 days! I was prepared to wait at least a week  I'm very impressed and so relieved!

3 days?? Wow - USPS, I am impressed! Could you guys have a little tete a tete with Canada Post and share some tips?? ;))

Such a relief that you don't have to worry or wonder - now, what is going to become of this little trinket?? :naughty:

Kenny, I don't own a $25k diamond...yet...but that is how the marquise was sent to me. It was fun watching it go through the system, and making a coworker deliver it to me. :)

The next big thing I will pick up in person though....she is a good friend!

I had to send something lock and key to Denver and it took a whole 7 days!!! I was only a state away!

It is really unpredictable how long it will take, but it still said to be the safest method. So glad yours got their so quickly!!!
