How long does GIA certification take?

Hi,

I was wondering how long it takes to have a diamond certified by GIA? Days, weeks, months?

Any advice would be helpful!

Don't forget shipping time if you don't live nearby the lab. For me (I'm in Denver) I usually have to add a week each direction for shipping when I submit a stone.

I'm in Chicago and my jeweler just shipped a stone out to GIA on Monday, 2/21.
He received the preliminary results from GIA this past Thursday, 3/3--11 days later.
The stone is now on its way back home.

This was much quicker than I expected, but I'm happy about it.

Also- if the stone is larger than a certain size ( I believe it's two carats...but maybe 3...) they automatically put a rush on it.
