The last few cars I've kept about 7 years each. Before that, it was less. I pay cash and drive them until they either hit close to 100k miles, or if they start needing high ticket repairs. My work commute used to be about 50 miles round trip daily, so about 12k a year and then with additional driving, I'd be at about 15k or so ( I don't go far and don't drive to my vacations). My current car was purchased in late August 2019. Covid hit 6 months later and I haven't driven it much since so I think it has about 8500 miles on it now. I'll probably never commute into the office daily again so maybe I'll end up keeping this one longer. But generally by the time they are about 7 years old, I'm ready for a new one for one reason or another.
