How is everyone coping with lack of regular beauty treatments?

I only have my hair cut and colored every 8 weeks. I'll be skipping that which means I will have some gray roots. The color I choose is semi-permanent and close to my natural color, so the roots from that won't be too bad. Huh, come to think of it the thread on going gray had me contemplating doing that again (I completely grew out my color/highlights a couple of years ago - I'm not near to being all gray, just random strands, so it was a neither-here-nor-there look). Maybe this will jumpstart me going that route after all!

I don't have anything else done so I will remain recognizable to my family!

I'm super low maintenance, so being sheltered at home is not really affecting my life. Like many here with long hair, I usually only get a hair cut 1x or max 2x a year, have a few strands of gray hair (~10) that I just pluck out, no need to dye. I pluck my own brows, grow my own lashes (use lash strengtheners), and do my own mani-pedis. I usually do not put polish on my fingernails because I like the natural look, I just keep everything trimmed and neat.

I don't do any beauty treatments, other than getting a haircut every 8-10 weeks.
But it can grow out and still look ok, I guess.

I recently had a haircut and can go months between cuts. Since I'm looking to add length this isn't a problem.
I stopped coloring my hair 3 years ago...silver is the new blonde!!! My silver/grey hair is much more flattering to my natural coloring than was the coloring I was doing. So I'm OK for no color.
I do my own nails...gel polish or dip. It is very relaxing for me and I've been doing my own nails for many years. Several people have asked if I would do theirs or at least help get their old nails off since it may be a while until they can get in for professional nail service again.
I also do my own facials with light chemical peels occasionally.
I will miss some waxing, which I would never try to DIY.
Basically I'm low maintenance or self maintaining. I may actually get some extra pampering since I have extra hours at home.

I am super low maintenance as far as hair color, nails, eyelashes etc. The only thing I do get are pedicures & haircuts. My hair is long & I got my hair cut the end of Feb, so everything is good for a while.

I have my hair cut every 5 weeks, I am due in three weeks however, I'll just pull it back into a pony tail until I can get a cut, I do my own mani and pedi's. And I have plenty of skin care in my cabinet.

Nails. Everyone gets them done around here. Otherwise I love beauty care but I do everything myself at home. Beauty care just meaning great skincare. I do not have any tatoos or anything fake, I never colored my hair and I have long layered hair that I cut myself. I find most salon stuff a waste of the money that I would rather spend on lasting things, such as bling;)))

I’m fine. I saw this coming and went and had my hair done. I’m good for about 9 weeks now. Lol. I don’t have nails that need to be done (one bright spot for the raggedy things) and I did a facial acid peel from make up artists choice. I did the phytix peel in preparation of doing a bigger TCA one in about 7-10 days....

Ugh. Here's the truth. I am high maintenance and vain! :lol-2: My nails look awful, my roots are showing, my precision bob is hardly precise, my botox is overdue,... the list goes on. Oh well, after this my husband will probably not complain about the cost of maintenance!! :P2

I have washed and tried to style my hair each day and I still wear makeup every day. Haha, good thing sephora is still online. =)2

I don't get beauty treatments done outside of the home. I have considered that this would be a good time to let my eyebrows grow wild in order to see about reshaping them.

I've also pondered letting myself use my retinol face cream more often because it won't really matter if my skin starts to peel or get scaly. Plus it's easier to avoid the sun these days.

Really, it's finding the motivaton to brush all the way through my hair when I have nowhere to go that is a challenge. That's bad, I know.

Oh screw beauty treatments - my need is more immediate and extreme! I have an appt with a plastic surgeon for a consult for a face lift in mid April! I was hoping to get a blepharoplasty early may, then the rest done in July! I can turn a blind eye to my roots, but my face feels like it's slowly sliding off my skull!

I foil every 6 weeks. I’m getting darker roots. I was due for my nails this week so they are going to look quite long soon. I have the worlds biggest collection of amazon hair bands now. I guess I am growing my pixie out. Change is good.

My Botox and filler appointment is April 9. I’m sure I will be missing that. That one hurts a bit more than missing the nails and eyebrows

My 15 year old (daughter) is a tomboy with a boy's haircut. She said she'd rather buzz her hair herself (if I get her clippers) than grow out her hair during this quarantine period!

... I find most salon stuff a waste of the money ...

Which reminds me ... maybe someone here hasn't seen this yet.
I love this comedian.

Working from home has changed basic everyday grooming more than the "special beauty treatments". I no longer wash my hair daily, some days I don't even comb my hair :) No makeup for the past 6 days either. I'm going to save a ton on basic beauty supplies :lol-2:

I usually wash every other day but stood in front of the mirror yesterday and honestly couldn’t recall the day before if I washed or not. So I put in a hair clip and went on about the day. LOL I’m afraid the days are already running together.

I normally don't wear makeup but now I'm on camera with parents and feel like I need to

For the first time in almost two weeks I left the property today to go to Costco and the grocery store, just a shower and no makeup. Not even mascara. I did put real pants and shirt on though, not the stuff I wear around the house and barn. :lol-2: I hope this doesn't become a habit but goodness knows it sure is freeing.

Edit - It was nice to see both stores with products on shelves and only a few people shopping.

I know have day PJ's and night PJ's. I miss pedicures. I would usually start them next month. Or massages, I have a gift certificate. I never gave thought to running out of razors @redwood66 . Is that another hoarded item? Man I was so unprepared!

I'll mail you mine @lyra... My legs seem to grow no hair anymore. :wink2:

That's really good to hear. I am hoping so hard the panicked food buying and hoarding diminishes. We were even debating going to Costco during the "senior" hour because my dh qualifies but we decided to leave it for those who really need to go before the mad rush.

Of course it varies by city I know. And no where is it crazier than Brooklyn Costco but our local markets seem to still have sufficient supplies so that is good.

I’m referring to myself as the witch and running around the house making cackling sounds.

Hair is frizzy and I’m not wearing makeup. Really embracing my inner weirdo.

I just had my color and cut done so I’m good for another 4-5 weeks. At that point I’m not sure what I’ll do! I normally get my eyebrows waxed and tinted. I can do them myself and my stylist said he’d grab me some tint for my eyebrows. I don’t get my nails done. I did just recently load up on some skin care stuff and lipstick- lip gloss and a bronzer. (Charlotte Tilbury and NARS.). I also got some more face moisturizer with spf in it for those walks we are still allowed to do!

I don't think it's really impacted me. I had my hair cut right before quarantine in Asia started kicking in, so my bangs still look OK. Skincare-wise, I've had to restock on moisturizer, but still have a lot of tretinoin cream left thank god. Also, I think cooking my own food and not eating out has helped both my skin & overall fitness/health a lot, so I guess that's a plus?

Overall, I don't miss much. If this was even just a year ago when I was regularly getting facials done (acne was a hot mess back then), quarantine would be harder but as it is, I'm ok.

@dk168 , thanks for starting this thread. A few of the posts make me chuckle. And there ain't a lot making me smile these days.

How is the situation in Singapore? Are salons and whatnot open, or are some of them still closed?

A few clinics in Shanghai are open again, but idk anyone going to them. Same w/gyms.

Everything is still open. Shops, restaurants, supermarkets, gyms, beauty salons etc are still open. But I imagine they're operating under normal capacity.

On the rare occasions that I have to go o;ut, I see most people not masked up, not maintaining social-distancing and some REFUSE to wash their hands after using the bathrooms! Ewww!!

I prefer to self-isolate, since I have a compromised immune system (Hashimoto's) and have just had major surgery. Safer for me, safer for everyone else.

Omg please stay safe! Fingers crossed for you!

I'm very surprised though to hear that Singaporeans are being so lax! I had assumed that people are taking precautions, especially w/their experience w/SARS, MERS, H1N1, etc.
