I was wonder how much of a differecnt a rock will show from vg/vg to ex/ex to id/id

Thanks for the help....

To answer your question, I have heard it said by a professional that polish and symmetry of good and above will look the same to the untrained eye. However, buyers who want a top of the range cut look for EX EX or preferably ID ID - as another poster said in a truly great cut these details will be taken care of. Importantly it is best to consider all the measurements of a diamond - depth, table, girdle thickness, crown and pavillion angle etc to be able to determine how well a diamond is likely to perform.

Regarding the last sentence - I am wondering what you mean...you intend to purchase on this card?

I don''t quite see why you posted that info?

hrmmm....I believe your point...where sym will take care of itself with a truely ideal cut...as for polish, I suppose that it would be logical for an ideal diamond to recieve a great polish.

This brings me to my next question, will I be able to distinguish a .73 from a .75 ct diamond? All things being equal

I think symmetry is more important in rounds than in some other fancy shapes.

No, if they are equally well-cut and one isn't substantially more or less deep than the other, you won't be able to tell.

As far as the polish/sym question...I can notice a difference in symmetry (say between gd and ex) with the naked eye, but above good polish I can't tell with the naked eye.

some experts on here have said that you will probably see a difference from something like a Good to ID, but most likely not apparent from VG to ID...

i prefer at least VG but for rounds it''s possible to get more picky and require EX or ID because those stones ARE out there. to me there''s no need to ''settle'' for G or VG for a round. for fancies it''s tougher because sometimes exceptionally cut stones may have G/VG for the polish symm or similar.

also symmetry is more important in a round for me, and if a round only has a G or VG..it bugs me. part of it is your personal preference, but i am not a fan of just ''Good''...it has to be VG for me.

the 2 diamonds I am considering have these 2 stats

Carat:0.748
Depth:61.9
Table:54.8
Crown Angle:34.7
Pavilion Angle:40.8

Carat:0.732
Depth:62
Table:55.1
Crown Angle:34.4
Pavilion Angle:40.8

so it looks like they will probably look very similar in size

top one is f color ex/ex si1 eye clean agsl rating
bottom one is g color id/id vs1 (haven't confirmed if eye clean but I assume being a vs1 it would be) agsl rating

I am planing to mount this in a 4 prong classic tiffany solitare setting with 18k yellow gold.

ALSO I forgot to mention I think the top one is a no name H&A or didn't qualify to be a H&A and the bottom one I have no idea I still need to call about what type of cut it is.

You are missing the measurements which will tell you whether they are the same size. The size will be listed in mm such as 5.6 X 5.63mm for the diameter and the depth will also be listed.

diamond 1 is 5.82 - 5.84 x 3.61 mm
diamond 2 is 5.76 - 5.79 x 3.58 mm
