Over the years, how has your taste in jewelry changed?

Muuuuuuch more expensive, and now that I''ve been on PS for awhile, I''m much more critical of quality. I got married in ''92 with a yellow gold setting, and now I have a white gold. I have to say though, that sometimes I miss the richness of the yellow gold. I''m also a little more adventurous; instead of just simple, demure pearl pendants, I now love to rock the bigger, blingier stuff.

I went to not being interested in jewelry at all, to finding pricescope and making a mile long wishlist in less than a couple months. I'm not sure how to categorize my taste in jewelry yet. I guess I like things that are sort of antique looking. Does pave count in that category?

haha, that''s what I am gathering by being on these forums. So many ideas! Expensive ideas!

I''ve pretty much just gone from buying into trends to not, which is really just a matter of taking time to develop my own taste. That and being exposed to enough things to know what my options are.

not really, I''ve always bought yellow gold, and never was into trend, my taste have been the same for the last 13 years.. simple really

I'm still into clean lines and elegant, timeless designs, but am now open to larger centre stones than I used to be (thanks a ton for that, PS

No, mine hasn''t changed at all really. I''ve always liked simple, small pieces and I still do. While I love to look at bigger diamonds and blingier pieces, they''re just not me.

I''ve always liked both modern pieces and more detailed antique pieces. Now I just admit that I actually like antique pieces a lot and don''t feel weird wearing something that it more metal than stone, like filigree.

I don''t want to own "everything" any more. Now I just want really fine quality diamonds. The very best I can afford to buy.

I think as I''ve gotten older I''ve started to like bolder jewelry. I still love delicate pieces, but now I don''t object so much to the heavier ones.

For instance, when my parents traveled to India about 15 years ago they brought back a beautiful deep purple amethyst & 18k gold ring, and at the time it was not something I ever would have worn -- but now I just love it!

Before I was never interested on jewelry, unltil I met my hubby, he likes stones, when he travel he buy stones as a hobby, so now I like gems more than before, but not that crazy about gems to actually wear them, I just would like to own a few pices of jewerly. What I enjoy the most is to play with gems

i think as my hands have aged, so i have preferred more streamlined, very classic pieces. i dont like pieces with lots of detail.

and my fingers are, sadly, a totally different size now - so i like much larger pieces to scale in with the rest of me!

and i''ve moved from sapphires to rubies as my great colored gem love - tho LostSapphire''s sapphire ring and ellen''s gorgeous aqua ring both drag me back towards the blues just when i think the reds have finally won!

and i love pearls - which i never loved before. in fact - i luuurve pearls!

:D

I''ve learned from being on pricescope that there''s almost nothing I don''t like. And I go through different phases where I just HAVE TO HAVE something, and then whatever the thing was maically becomes something else to obsess over. I can''t afford to buy most of it of course. I have so little quality jewelry that when I do actually buy things, I aim for classics that build my collection. Now that the pearls forum is open, I''m over there drooling over what just might be my next purchase!

But I don''t have diamond studs yet either, so I don''t know....

I guess you could say my taste has gotten more expensive, as I used to be thrilled with sterling silver and marcasite pieces. Now I want diamonds, gemstones, and pearls!

I''m starting to like more intricate designs. I will always prefer simple and classic, but now the more fancy settings appeal to me as well because people here have great taste.

+1

I like so many different things so I honestly have a hard time finding things that I don''t like, but I''ve become much more picky when it comes to quality. I''m having my wedding set re-set because of quality issues. My set was custom made for us my a maul jeweler (Stuller setting) and after being here I really started analyzing it and realized it''s just shoddy workmanship. DH and I are going to a local B&M and having it reset into something much better. This will be a gift that covers our wedding anni, mother''s day and my birthday so it''s well worth it.

I think I've just become a lot more clear on what I do and don't like. Since discovering PS I have a much better understanding of and appreciation for quality pieces and I'm way more interested in vintage pieces. I like things that have a story...

I think I've become a lot more confident in my love for yellow gold since finding this site too. I know it's not the trendy thing to have, but I really do prefer it on my skin tone and it's nice to see that so many others like me are out there.

When I was with my first serious boyfriend and we were talking about marriage (18 years old!), I wanted a simple 4 prong yellow gold solitaire with a solid gold wedding band. I could not stand white gold and platinum. Just wasn''t my style. However, now I am absolutely in love with white gold/platinum, shape cut diamonds (my e-ring is a princess, I LOVE emerald, cushion and asscher cuts thanks to PS) with a lot of bling. Now, I want diamonds in my WB too.
I''m amazed how much my taste has changed.

Before, I wanted bulk.. more pieces and didn''t care a whit about quality.. NOW.. I want simple classic pieces I can wear forever that are more quality pieces that have significant meaning. I wore yellow gold forever, now I have just one tiny yellow gold band hubby & I found at a vintage shop and pretty much the rest of my pieces are white gold.
I feel the same SDL.

Yup yup. Pre-Pricescope I was never really happy with my options as far as resetting my ering, earrings etc. And now - well, now I''ve got all these wonderful vendors with quality stuff to satisfy my jewelry itch in a classier way.

In High School and College I amassed a HUGE collection of kinda bohemian stlyed sterling and semi precious stones. And then I got my ering - and the diamond love was off and running.

I used to only think that yellow gold looked good against my skin tone, but I''ve come to love the silvery look of platinum. Other than that, my tastes haven''t changed.

I don''t think my style has changed (I have wanted a Tacori since high school) but I am more practical. Meaning, as much as I LOVE (really love) pave I know that it might not be the best for my lifestyle.

Before, I just bought a lot of jewelry without a lot of thought. Now, I really really enjoy the process of going custom for pieces and enjoy classic clean styles. Also, pre-PS I had my diamond in a platinum setting with huge bulky jaws of life style prongs that I instinctively disliked. DH let me go custom for the reset. Now, after seeing the multitude of prong options, I really love and appreciate a ring''s profile.

I went from liking more intricate pieces to now liking simple, classic pieces. I admit I fall prey to PS trends sometimes.

When I got my e-ring, I hated it because it was a three stone ring with accent diamonds on the side. I didn''t even know that three-stone rings existed and was disappointed that I didn''t get a solitaire. I remember thinking my ring was gaudy because it had too much bling (really it didin''t --its just that I had stopped wearing jewelry for a while) and now..its not enough bling...I love my three stone ring (and other multistone

rings) but I wish my ring had more accent diamonds down the shank!

I went from not wearing jewelry often to dreaming and daydreaming about my next acquisition/project!

Thanks alot Pricescope!
