Hi,

I haven''t been on these boards in a while but you all were so helpful when we were looking to buy my engagment ring!

Anyways, recently while looking at my diamond I noticed there is a small faint line that runs through the middle of my diamond. I''ve looked at my diamond before, but its not something I have ever noticed! Now I''m wondering if this is something new thats occurred since we bought it. I know diamonds are very hard to damage and there are no other signs of damage. I can see this line from all sides of the stone. Could this be why my ring is graded as an S1-1? What kind of flaw is this? Please tell me its not some kind of internal crack. I''d be really upset.
Thanks!

Diana

it is probably the reflection of the girdle.

It''s probably the reflection of the girdle that you are seeing. They all have this and you probably did not notice it before now. Does it look like the line in this one?

I third it - all mine have it too.

Does it run horizontally when you look at the diamond from the side? If so, it's probably the reflection of the girdle. Nothing to worry about, every diamond has that.

Yes, thats exactly what it looks like!
PHEW!! I feel much better now knowing thats normal and not some horrible flaw.

Thanks guys! I knew this was the place to turn to for the answer
