Sorry, this has probably been answered on here before, but it''s hard to do a search when you don''t know the term for what you''re searching for!

When you view your diamond from the side, there is a horizontal line/flat surface about 2/3''s of the way down, resting above the culet. What IS THAT?!?!?! Is it really some sort of fact, or is it just an optical illusion? For lack of a better way to describe it, it looks as if someone cut the culet off using a straight, horizontal slice, and then stuck it back on again. (boy, can''t get much more "un-technical" than that, can I!?!?!

Yes it is - the thicker the girdle the ticker the line
