Hi FLY,

Really, everything looks ok. The only thing I see is, it''s facing up a bit small, because of the depth. A .95 should have around a 6.4 diameter. Your diamond is slightly larger in ct. weight, but is facing up at 6.33. If that doesn''t bother you, you may have found your stone.

Is there any chance you could get an IS image or ASET or Sarin report on it?

Yeah I wish it had a slightly lower depth percentage and crown angle, but this is the best one I could find in the entire Tiffany's inventory nationwide (in the .95-.99 F VS1/VS2 range). The smaller diameter doesn't bother me too much. I just want the diamond to perform well.

I just don't understand how it could still have an overall Excellent rating with only one of the 4 ratings being excellent on the HCA report.

Thanks.

FLY, the HCA is a bit geared towards shallower numbers (your crown is fine with that pavillion). So you need to take those results with a grain of salt.

Your stone may well be a beauty.

That''s great to know. The HCA Advisor has been driving me crazy! I''ve ran so many Tiffany''s Grading Reports through that calculator and I haven''t been able to get into the low 1''s, but most of the stones I have been running through the calculator have been in the 61.9-62.4 depth range though.

Anyone else have any opinions on this stone? Thanks

No need to get an HCA score in the low 1''s... it is my understanding that 1.9 is a very nice score, and the only thing the HCA is adding the analysis here is the spread issue.

My suggestion would be to go with this stone, but if you are still not satisfied open up your search up to G color... no difference face up when mounted from an F in a well-cut round.

It's probably a fine stone, but ditto that it is facing up small. My concern is that you are paying for the larger carat weight, but it's not looking like it.

So do you really think you can tell the difference between a 6.36 and 6.4/6.5? I mean we''re talking about .04-.14 mm''s here. Honestly I don''t think I could ever tell a difference, but I''m not an expert.

How much would it cost to move into the 1-1.1 ct range? Faces up fine. But would a .95 F VS1 and a 1.05 F VS2 be about the same?

Going to a full carat is out of the question. A full carat adds about 2000-2500 onto the price. I know it''s crazy.

It''s not a huge difference, but you might be able to notice the difference between a 6.3 and a 6.4mm. Here''s a chart I made. It doesn''t look like a *large* difference until you get up to about 7mm.

Well Tiffany''s sent me some pics of the stone so let me know what ya''ll think. I am buying the .97. They put a 1.04 next to it so I could see how much of an increase in carat weight/dimensions would affect the visual size of the stone.

Honestly it looks to me like you can barely tell and when the ring is on a finger without another ring next to it I really don''t think it will make a difference. I am glad I am going with the .97 and saving thousands on this ring.

Take a look and let me know what ya''ll think.

I just called there this morning and they said they didn''t have any. Looks like I''m calling again.

I''m not sure about how you feel about buying pre-owned designer pieces, so please just shrug this off if you are not interested. I found a .95 tiffany engagement ring at signedpieces.com (very respected here)...just in case you wanted to save money:

1.09 F/VS solitaire:
http://www.signedpieces.com/item.cfm?item_id=3855

.95 E round center with baguette sides:
http://www.signedpieces.com/item.cfm?item_id=4080
Thank you for posting this. I called this morning and they said they didn''t have any, but I guess they just got this one in.

It is the exact same price as the .97, but it doesn''t have as good Polish and Symmetry and I am waiting to hear back about the table %, and crown/pavillion angles.

Looks like I may be cancelling my Tiffanys order.
