How does this diamond look? Greatly appreciate thoughts

Some leakage under the table, definitely not H&A, but still a strong performer.

Has the gemologist looked at it? Did they say if it is eye-clean? From the video, to my eye, the inclusions under the table are distracting, and I'm afraid it would make the stone look dirty/smudged all the time.
 
The gemologist said it was eye clean. My wife is hesitant about it being a SI2.
 
What kind of setting are you planning to put it in? Will she be bothered if she can spot the inclusions from the side? How far away did they say it was eyeclean from the top? 8, 10 inches? I think it is a personal choice as to how much the inclusions will bother her. :errrr:
I'm sure you put a hold on this stone already, but just in case be aware that lurkers will sometimes grab a stone if it's still listed as available. :angryfire:
 
Yes definitely find out at what distance the inclusions are visible at. If your wife is the one to be wearing it, and she's worried about it, made sure the gemologist knows at what distance she will be inspecting it from. Once seen, an inclusion can't be unseen. Can you order the stone loose so you can inspect it first?
 
I would be able to see those inclusions, so it isn't "eye clean". Consider dropping down to 1.8ct and improving the clarity. Fair enough I always look very close at a diamond, in different lighting and different angles, but don't we all? Just because you can't see an inclusion face up 18 inches away doesn't mean it is eye clean in all viewing conditions.

It may not be eye clean, but it is certainly a good looking SI2 and I don't think there is any way to know for sure until you see it. From normal viewing distances it will look clean I think, and may even be eye clean when viewed up close. If you want to be on the safe side you can go up in clarity, but that does look like a good SI2.
 
Can you guide me on what questions to ask? Do the above questions cover all bases? Eye clarity clarifiations? Any specific about the wisps across the table? Or number? Wisp is mentioned first on the GIA / SI2. Read that may make the diamond hazy or create a "snowglobe" effect. The GIA also states all excellent and HCA is 1.9

I don't see how anyone can declare they can see those inclusions without seeing it in person. Twining wisp are one of the
best inclusions because in a normal size (not blown up) stone, they are usually impossible to see. That's one of the best
looking SI2s I've seen in a 2+ carat. I think you should order it and check it out in person to see if it is eye-clean to your eyes.

If it is eye-clean to your satisfaction and the twining wisp don't cause any haziness then I think you have found a nice stone.
 
Thank you. The attached pictures look good for light refraction? Nothing odd jumps out on any photos? With the GIA report? I am torn with saving up a few thousand more and buying an SI1 for my wife. We are at the top of our price limit as is. BUT, then again, I am hoping this is one of those SI2s that my wife has read about on Pricescope. The "lucky finds".

The vendor has shared with her it is "eye-clean" from close up even 3 inches (*but not from upside down viewing) and is more like a "poor SI1", in his opinion (PS mentioned and liked vendor). My wife also asked him about any possible haziness - he has confirmed there is none. I think that is the sticking point. If there will be haziness in any lighting, it wont work for her. I suppose only viewing in person will say for sure.

If I was the one buying, I would have snatched it up yesterday. An eye clean 2ct stone is not easy to find... I know coz I tried. You are lucky and if I had extra funds, I would just buy the biggest eye clean stone I could find in budget but that's just me ... . my mind clean stops with what my eyes can see. I appreciate size more than mind clean :naughty:
 
I would also purchase that and check it out. Easy to return if you don't like, but it looks really great.

:appl: :appl: Yes please come back and show it off. I am so envious of your find. I tried to find a 2ct SI2 in budget when I was looking late last year but was not lucky enough to find an eye clean+ great cut stone in my budget so I am soooooo jealous :(( but still happy for your wife :))
