How does Hearts & Arrows differ from AGS - Ideal?

Are all AGS Ideal cuts Hearts & Arrows? Are all Hearts & Arrows AGS Ideal? Does H&A mean certain facets were cut differently than normal?

This diamond I'm looking at is AGS Ideal, but doesn't specify Hearts & Arrows. Is Hearts & Arrows a better quality cut?

Thanks, PSers!

One is light return the other is patterning. I explain it here (and the thread is a great one, period), https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/likelihood-of-finding-a-signature-super-ideal-diamond.174235/ If you read that thread you should have a clear understanding.

I totally forgot about this thread!! Do you know if it was ever added to helpful threads? If not it should be! Thanks Gypsy! =)

Hearts and arrows are the top of the ideal cuts. They have ideal light return and the most precise cutting. Some vendors are a little loose with that term. Vendors who sell true H&A stones in their signature lines would include Good Old Gold, WhiteFlash, Brian Gavin, and Infinity.

In my knowledge , Both hearts and Arros and AGS IDeal is different concept. but approximately, if i am not missing, if random 100 Diamonds of AGS 000 is measured as Hearts and Arrows will show Hearts and Arrow pattern in almost 70 to 80 diamonds

AGS latest matrix Ideal cut parameters set of AGS research which maximises light return, for hearts and Arrows 3 key attribute
a) Ideal symmetry which AGS has
b) Pavilion angle and Crown Angle combination (Only narrow range of PA and CA showing proper Hearts and Arrows pattern
c) Lower girdle% and star% this are parameter which causes broken hearts or arrows.

the HRD laboratory has very detailed document on hearts and arrows also they have given very detailed explanation about hearts and Arrows parameters i think that might help.

The technical difference between Hearts and Arrows and AGS 000 is Hearts and arrows is mainly caused by reflection of facets whereas AGS 0 is based on white light return (Brilliance) +Leakage+Dispersion+contrast even though broken hearts facets it might show maximum light return and even though perfect hearts and arrows might not return good light. when AGS is deciding 0 it is not looking hearts and Arrows pattern..
