How do you wear your rope?

Let's leave the definition of a "rope" loose. If you think of it as a rope -- it's a rope!

Who's first?

just because I am so excited about mine, I will post again.

I have only just gotten it, but I like it short and long, like this.

Here's my new 50" baroque tahitian rope worn three ways (I think I like #3 best):

I like 3 best with that blouse, but with a different top, I think 1 is also a great option!

Those are beautiful, btw.

GorGEOUS! If it's possible, I'd love to see a shot of the back and how you're holding it together.

I am torsade-challenged. My attempt today was a hot mess.

It's very easy with a pearl clasp or loop. I got mine on ebay.

ETA. you can also use a large pin/brooch and close it in the front if don't like the back closure.

ACK! You know how I feel about this rope now that I've seen my first Tahitians in person. This is amazing. LOVE.

Tee Hee -- and for the evening: Take off longest two strands of 144" and put on Tahitian doubled. Voila!

Addendum, Hubby didn't like the above -- so back to full white rope...

I am very glad that I had my 144" rope made into three sections. The rope is super versatile this way.

Today: longest section wound twice around neck with long third strand knotted. Perfect for a BBQ:

I just tried something new with my 50" baroque Tahitian rope. I doubled it with the clasps undone and twisted the double strand. Then I put the necklace around my neck, now doubled and twisted. One end is the loop of the fold, the other end is the two parts of the clasp. I closed the clasp on either side of the loop (like a chain link). I don't know if this qualifies as a torsade per se, but there is no need for a fastener this way and the back is fairly neat:

I am planning to wear my akoya, keshi and FW ropes on Thursday as a flapper girl. I bought some fringe and basted it (so I can remove it after Halloween) on my black dress. I sewed some metallic trim on elastic to make the headband with feather. I still have to color a bamboo chopstick with permanent black marker to make the cigarette holder. All materials cost less than $10 because I have my pearls already. Will try to take picture.

Last year I dressed up as a gypsy and won 3rd place at work ($50 Visa card as prize).

HHPmom Any costume centered around pearls would certainly get my vote! I have always wanted to wear a flapper costume with loads of pearls :geek:

Today I am dressed as a flapper girl of the roaring 20's. A keshi strand from TJ Maxx that I stringed myself, TPO's FW, PP's gem FW. Last picture is last year's costume as a gypsy that won 3rd place (holding the Visa gift card).

My first good pearls were from TJ Maxx! Just small white FWP, but nice lustre and pretty decent quality. I've restrung them twice and now they are a bracelet with welo opals!
