How do you know if you are getting the right price for a stone?

Just looked at a round brillant that is:
laser inscription
weight: 2.09
cert: GIA
Color: I
Clarity: Si1
Girdle: thin to medium, faceted
no culet
polish: exc
symetry: exc
flor: none

the inclusions are on the table, but are really slight.

What would you pay for such a stone?

That depends on what the table and depth are and if the stone is properly proportioned. Unfortunately you did not give us enough information to give you a good answer.

Wink

Sorry bout that
Depth: 59.2%
Table: 58%

Dimensions are: 8.38-8.40 x 4.97mm

Looks like it's on the borderline.

What did it score on the cut advisor? I know nothing about RB stones, but I know people are always mentioning the scores....

Also, have you used the "price stats" link on Pricescope to compare the cost of your stone to those offered by other vendors? That's a great place to start if you haven't!

BTW, you'll need the crown and pavillion angles to use the cut advisor. They control a lot of the brilliance and fire, judging by the cut advisor! If the vendor doesn't have those figures available, you can ask him to run the stone through a Sarin machine, which will measure all those things for him.

That's a good point, but with the low ratings for this stone I somehow doubt that they will get great ratings. I could be wrong, but I would guess that the stone won't rate very high in those areas either....

but the cert doesn't have any ratings, just the specifications. Also this is a thin to medium girdle. Doen't have a registered copy diacalc so I cant really rate this stone. What else would you need for a rough estimate?

the HCA can be used by clicking that link called "cut advisor" above. you'll need crown and pavillion angles, though...

yea, don't have that, just the measurements which are 8.38-8.40 x 4.97.
