how do you buy a setting?

I looked at the PS ebay vendors but most are from China and I'd prefer to deal US.

I found some styles I like in the Stuller and Adwar online catalog and I'd like to see these in person but I live in a small town and even jewelers that Stuller shows as selling their merch will not likely have the ring I want in stock. And some in Stuller catalog say they are custom order and not ever in stock until ordered (first ring showing IIRC).

Can someone tell me--how do I get to see these rings in advance?
I'd like to buy my stone, (montana sapphire) when I find it, with an idea already of what setting I'd want. Easy if I liked solitaires but I don't. Am I limited to what a jeweler has in stock-whether online or an actual store?

Here are a couple-1st from Stuller and (edit) the second one is Tacori, just to give an idea.

I'll be looking forward to the answer too - you have chosen two very pretty settings; I love them both for their subtle detailing.

thanks minou

I think I'm seriously in love with #1 which of course makes it harder to see one. There are online dealers of the Tacori ring that I can order, try it on and send back if not "the one". But I can't find Stuller sold retail online and I've searched thoroughly. I'll keep trying.

I am a lover of good design and by that I mean "what I like" lol. I normally would not choose a halo but these two seem restrained as far as bling. And I think a Montana sapphire would fit well with the design of either.

I looked up the Tacori price which is $2610 in WG. a bit high for me when adding the cost of the gem into it, hoping the Stuller will be less, perhaps because it's not a "designer name"?

Any jeweler can bring in Stuller or Adwar settings for you. Just ask. You'll find out who wants your business, too.

Thanks, I sent him an email.
He's in the right area for Montana sapphires so maybe he could hit a home run for me.
His website is not showing any gems but I asked.

The problem with a jeweler "bringing in" rings is that the Stuller catalog says the one I like is never in stock so must be ordered.
I'm going to assume there is a re-stock fee at the least and a "no refund" from the local jeweler at the worst. Both things I'd like to avoid.

The other thing I would like to avoid is wasting a jewelers time, whether they are online or in a store. I was in business so I know their time is valuable and would feel lousy having them spend time and then I don't like the ring in person. It's a real catch-22.
I know jewelers in real stores would be happy for me to come in because they know something else might catch my eye. That's not a waste of their time because a warm body is a potential sale. I'm however a terrible shopper. I want exactly what I want or something exactly similar. Haha

The Tacori ring I can order online with full return policy, no problems. Too bad it's not the one I really love.

Thanks for your reply.

How about asking the jeweller if there's a fee involved rather than presuming? Who knows, you might just be surprised.
