How do I take good photos of a diamond ring?

All I have to use to take a photo of this ring is a 3.2 mega pixel digital camera. Of all the photos I take, the gems turn out blurry. Maybe there is some setting on the camera that will work better, than the rest.

Try changing the settings in the camera such as indoor mode or out door mode, or could you provide the name of the camera which you are using. Or i'd suggest to take some professional photographers help.

Thanks for the advice. I also would like to know how to clean this ring myself. It has some white flakey grime on the inside part below the gem settings. Maybe I should ask this in another topic.

It's a white gold diamond ring from the 50's I believe.

Around here at least, if you take the ring to a mall jeweler they will clean it for free. Otherwise I think warm water and windex for a little bit and brush it with a baby toothbrush should do it

Which kind you talking about? The suburban mega store jewelers, or the little strip mall "we buy gold" jewelers?

ANy regular jewelry store will clean your ring for free (probably not a pawn shop though).

It's a good idea to read through the tips thread. If you are trying to clean something up to sell if the pictures are blurry and terrible it doesn't matter how clean you made the ring. Use macro mode, stay away from black backgrounds, direct sunlight and use of camera flash. Bright but diffused light is good (think under a tree) and you'll see plenty of pictures browsing Show me The Bling topics of rings photographed with flowers.
