I have an IPOD and I use ITunes. I put ITunes on my work PC so I could listen to everything at work without actually using the IPOD since headphones are a no-no. Now, my work has come down with new rules about software allowed to be on the work PCs. So, I need to move my ITunes to my home PC. Is there a way to copy and go or do I have to download Itunes on my home PC and feed in all the CDs again? What about the songs I purchased?

Any suggestions hugely appreciated. Thanks!

I''d probably upload everything from your work PC to your IPOD and then download from your IPOD to your other PC. I can''t think of a faster way... maybe someone else has an idea?

So, if my IPOD is current and I take it to my home PC I can just hook it up and went it syncs all my songs will go onto my home PC? I was afraid the sync only went from PC to IPOD...not IPOD to PC.....

You may want to check on the apple website for info. on that. I thought that, unless you configured it diferently, if you hooked up an ipod with songs on it to a new computer then you''d lose all the songs because it would download the new itunes (which wouldn''t have any songs on it) to your ipod. I''d check it out first.

you can move songs from your ipod to your home pc, you just need to make sure that the software is set to ''manual'' add on your home computer. if it is set to automatic, it will erase all of the songs on your ipod. once you are sure it is on manual, you can drag your ipod library and drop it into your itunes library on your home computer.

Belle--Thanks for the advice. I was afraid it would delete what was already on my IPOD if I just hooked it up to the new computer.

Next question...I don''t have internet access at home so the only version of Itunes I will have is the CD that came with my IPOD in May 2005. The version I have on my work PC is newer although not the newest version. WIll this cause me any problems?

I must be an IPOD idiot because I can''t find the control to switch to "manual." ....Can you tell me where it is?

there shouldn''t be any problems with the older version. i have the original software on one of my computers and it works fine.

no, you''re not. i found mine through lots of trial and error (and lost songs!).
plug in your ipod on your work computer and open itunes.
go to edit
preferences
ipod

it should be there. i don''t have my ipod with me right now, so i can''t check the exact wording/location but if you can''t find it, i''ll get it later.

there should be a check box that you can choose to upload manually. you will also have to manually eject your ipod from the computer when you do it this way as well (the ipod will not eject automatically). if this happens, you are on the right track.

Belle--That explains why I couldn''t find that option. I don''t have the IPOD with me right now. I''ll bring it to work and try tomorrow.
