I need some help if anyone knows how to clean this. I keep getting rashes on my finger from the underside of this ring. Stuff is getting into the holes on the back of the flush settings. Any help would very much be appreciated so I can wear my wedding band again.

Try soaking it in ammonia for a while (hot water & a drop of dishsoap if it's plated gold), and a baby toothbrush

Be very careful how you clean this ring. Are those Emeralds set into it? If so, then you need to take extra care because hot water, sonic cleaners etc., could crack the stones.

If they''re not Emeralds then to give the ring a very good clean I would suggest getting a toothbrush with some washing up liquid and scrubbing the inside of the ring where the holes are. Rinse, repeat etc.

If you''re getting rashes the other thing to look at is whether the ring maybe a tiny bit too tight. If you have it made a quarter or even half a size bigger, it would allow the air to circulate under the ring and should stop the rashes from occuring (which is caused by trapped perspiration).

what metal and stone is this ring made of?

I don''t know if this helps, but Adam at Old World Diamonds is launching a jewelry cleaning product called Oxi Jewel in the next few days. They were just finishing up packaging when I visited yesterday - maybe give him a call and pre-order a packet. It looks like a great way to clean full rings without any damage or fear of losing your stones.

Here''s Adam''s email and number - [email protected] and (866) 729-8625.

Oh goodness, I just assumed the stone was a green diamond

Thanks for the replies. It has an aquamarine, a paradot, and a diamond in it and it is white gold. Being too tight is a possibility, I''ll have that checked after I try cleaning it with soap and water. Thanks again, and please let me know if there are any special instructions I should take note of for the stones and the white gold other than what have been mentioned already!

I think you can take it and get the holes behind the stones filled in with metal. They don''t actually do anything except collect grime, so they are not actually needed for the appearance and integrity of the ring.

That would be ideal, why are they there in the first place?

I read a thread about this a while ago, though I can''t find it. It is so you can clean the underside of the diamonds apparently, but since they are bezel/hammer set, it is impossible for grime to get in there anyways. I suspect it actually has more to do with the process of setting the stones, maybe it is easier? Either way, I cannot imagine it costing very much to fill them in. Check with your jewler to make sure it is ok, but you are not the first person I have heard to have the problem you describe. So fillem in if you can and be done with it!

thanks for the help again. Just thought I''d update the post. I had my ring resized about 1/4 size larger. Its more comfortable and I haven''t had an issue with rashing up to this point (I had it resized on the 23rd of last month, so far so good!)
