Hi everyone I need some assistance here as im ordering from US and cannot see the diamond before purchasing could you tell me if this is an easy choice or its something I would be better to see as either could be as beautiful:

1. 3.01ct Round brilliant, J-K colour, VS1
2. 3.33ct Round brilliant, H colour, SI2

What would you go for and please tell me why?

Thank you so much!! :twirl:

Cut is what makes the diamond beautiful, more so than colour and clarity. Do any of these come with a GIA or AGL or EGL memo? If so, please provide the following:
1. Depth
2. Table
3. Crown angle
4. Pavilion angle

Without knowing this info, who knows how cruddy or great the cut is. No one here can predict which one is better looking either without the above information. You can also enter the information yourself here:

There are two things than concern me as well.
1. Why the J-K colour rating? It should be one or the other.
2. Is the SI2 diamond eye clean?

I wouldn't be hopeful about a 3 ct. SI2 being eyeclean and in fact, you may have to do some looking to find an eyeclean SI1 at that size. I would personally FAR rather have a 2.5 ct. GIA excellent cut H VS2 or even I VS2 over either of those. And as Chrono said, we'd have to see all the info from the lab reports to give opinions on those stones.

Well, I would suggest you to first check the return policy with the Jeweler, like you said you are ordering from the US, be ready to deal with the custom charges as well as the International shipping cost. Your Jeweler might accept to take the diamond back if you do not like it but for the refund of the custom duties & taxes, you would have to go through a tedious process. However, for International shipping cost you would be liable to pay.

With regard to the color and clarity, I’d suggest to take a chance with J-VS1, because this diamond will be eye clean and you might also get a J color diamond with a white face up. However, you need to ask the Jeweler to get the expert comments from their gemologist.

For H- SI2, it will not be an eye clean diamond; ask your Jeweler to provide you with an "Image of the diamond. Check where are the inclusions, if they can be easily pron-gable only then you may take your chances.

Since you are looking forward to purchase a 3 carat rock, I’d suggest you stick to the clarity of VVS2 or VS1. I personally would not go too deep with the technical aspects (crown/ pavilion angle) as it will only make my search more difficult. I would stick to the most essential aspects such as
Depth – 59% - 62.5%
Table- 54.0%-58.00%
Ratio – 1.00
Cut, Polish & Symmetry – Excellent
Girdle – Medium Faceted
