After almost a year of research, reading these forums, educating and agonizing over emerald cuts, I finally have a stone in hand. I now have to decide on a setting, but I do have some time since the proposal won't occur until October. It is a 1.10CT J SI1 with a 1.65 L/W ratio.

I have attached a link to the video as well as the ASET/IS images. I chose the one on the left in the video. What do you think?

Hmmmm how much did you pay? Honestly, and I'm not an expert just someone on the hunt like you awaiting for my stone to arrive, I feel like those blemishes would bother me and the light is either obstructed or leaking. It might just be the pics but it looks like the steps are on and off at the same time. Emeralds are so hard!!! Here's the images of my stone to compare and I don't think mine is ideal but I love it. Do you like it? Are you ok with the blemishes?

Sorry, I just saw, so $3k. Since it's a J and SI1 I think you can do better. It's very very shallow though which makes the spread larger so that is nice but could impede performance.

Yes I do like it. The true test will be whether my girlfriend will like it. It meets all of her criteria. The performance is very good in all lighting I tried it in yesterday. Even in low light it did well. Although it is an SI1, it is completely eye clean. I looked at some others that had much better "specs", but did not perform as well as this one.

Eyeclean? What is that we are seeing on both in the video?

Is it reflections from the prongs of the stone holders?

The 'blemishes' in the stones seem to line up exactly with them in the horizontal plane, so I think it's nothing to worry about.

I wondered that.

I do like the stones

OoohShiny is correct. They are reflections from the prongs. To be honest, I didn't think I would find anything lower than a VS in a step cut that would be eye clean, but this one is. Now, my "mind" knows what's there and I'm ok with that.

I totally like if that's the prongs! Great stone!
