How could I decorate either of these venues?

FH and I have short-listed 2 venues for our ceremony and cocktail reception. Though due to our lack of "vision" we are having major mental blocks in terms of how we would decorate either of them to pretty them up a bit. They both sort of speak for themselves and don't need much doecarting but apart from a few vases wtih simple flowers, what else can we do that will be simple of but have big impact?

The Rosehill:

-Its the bigger venue and maybe too big for 65 people? The curtains will be drawn even if during the day. Love the brick walls and sofas/tables.

The Richmond:

-The furniture package we get is most like photos 4 and 16. We love the 20 foot high windows, airy feeling, and how cute the place could look lit up at night by candles. It will be a cocktail event with both passed hors d'ouevers and food stations. Unsure about having a DJ or dance floor. The upper balacony doesn't really get used for much unless its needed for a DJ. Other than some furniture, the venue lets us use the frames along the side wall to put our own pics in.

We want to budget decor costs into deciding which venue to book bt haven't the foggiest as to how to decorate. The venue reps we talked to weren't much help bc they say the rooms don't need much decor as they speak for themselves. The only idea I have is a minimalistic flower thingie with a small glass vase, submeged flower with rocks at bottom of vase. Either way it'll have to be sometihng bright like a purple orchid.

Ideas?

Dang....I find it hard to keep track of which forums I am allowed to post links and which I am not :( If I'm not supposed to post links mods please remove. I'm a total noob when it comes to adding pics to posts. There are photo galleries at each of the venue websites:

The Richmond (its in Toronto)

and

The Rosehill (also in Toronto)

It's fine as long as it is not a link to personal photos or blogs. But a venue listing is fine to link to. :))

We ask that photos, especially of bling, are uploaded to the website so that we do not have broken links all over the forum. But general links to venue websites etc. are fine.

Phewwwwwww! Thanks :)

I'm not the most imaginative when it comes to flowers but I think that either venue would be great with a few cylinder vases with floating candles or submerged callas or both. You can also get ideas for venue decor in the Newlywed weekly photo threads. I had a venue similar in feel (I think, at least) with exposed brick, wooden beams, and tall windows. It was a historic hotel dining room. I used the submerged callas with a candle idea as a last minute centerpiece. I liked the fact that they didn't take up much real estate on the tables but added something to make it feel like a wedding reception. There is a picture in this thread, as well as many other great ideas as I mentioned before.

If I were forced to choose a favorite out of the two venues you posted it would be super tough. The second one looks better for mingling but the first one looks so intimate. You can't go wrong either way!

I used to work for a florist, and I think these lamps would look really cool. The vase at the bottom can be filled with any sort of flower that can be submerged. Then we had about 15 different colored shades we could put on top.

My photos won't upload, so these links will have to do! http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos...41517098_118110261547486_209216_3601883_n.jpg

What a great idea! I won't have seating dining though so I don't really need centerpieces. Just a little something to go on top of cruiser tables, coffee tables and a few regular height rounds. Anything too high would obstruct peoples views when they cluster around a table to eat (hors douevers, food stations, etc) and talk.

Sorry Sirbenson, I don't have any decorating experience, so I can't offer advice, but I wanted to say that I REALLY LOVE the Rosehill. The Richmond is really nice too, but I love the romantic, cozy, warm atmosphere of the Rosehill. I've never been to Toronto by the way, so my suggestion is just based on the pics on both sites. I know you're not asking for opinions on which venue we like the best, so I hope it's okay that I chimed in. :))

I love the Rosehill too! Sort of like a sexy pub. SInce we don't want something super formal it really appeals to us. Love the brick walls. Unfortunately its the more expensive venue and might be a tad large for our 65 person guest list.
