How come...?

...there are hardly ever any cushion cut diamonds under a carat when I use the pricescope search function? Come to think of it, I'm not sure I've seen anything under a carat posted on pricescope either. Are they unusual, or is there a problem with this cut in smaller diamonds, or something else?

There are a few. I have a thread where I asked people to post their own under 1 carat cusions. I''ll find it for you.

Mine is under 1 carat. You have to remember that here on PS the size of diamonds is greatly greatly skewed upwards!

Now that I have one, I think they look really beautiful in the smaller sizes as well. But you certainly can''t see the facets as clearly as with a bigger stone, but that holds true for any cut. I highly recommend Mark at Engagement Rings Direct if you''re in the market for a cushion. He''s awesome to work with and will pick you out a winner with not too much work from you.

Any talk of "under 1ct" cushions "not working" is HOOEY! And your ring is irrefutable PROOF!

mlopros on ebay has a lot of smaller cushions. also check out pawn shops and estate jewelry!

It''s not just small cushions that don''t show up using the cut-quality search. Using a very wide range, you would only come up with 3 cushions in the whole database, and they are all from GOG. I don''t know what criteria is used to search for excellent cut cushions using this search feature. Perhaps the forum administator could shed some light on how the cut-quality search looks for cushions.

I think it is a good thing that there is no "by the numbers" search feature for cushions here on PS, because we all know better than to suggest that cushions can be purchased by the numbers...

Awwww thanks Deco!!! I LOVE this ring...I stare at it so much that I'm worried I might not get my research done for school...

On the same note, I just saw YOURS posted in another thread and MAN does that deco re-do look FANTASTIC! An asscher is high on my list eventually...
