How Color Sensitive Are You?

"WTF is wysteria?"

I know more about plants than colors. Wisterias are available in a wide range of color ranging from white, lavender-blue, lilac, pink, mauve, purple, lilac, to rich pink. You've seen them no doubt. A beautiful vine. There's one in California iirc that's a couple of acres in size and weighs an estimated 200+ tons.

If you look up the color definition of wisteria, they have it pretty well pegged to one of the original plant colors imported into the US...

"Wisteria, a light medium violet color is equivalent to light lavender. The Prismacolor colored pencil PC 956, which used to be called light violet and is now called lilac (the actual color of the colored pencil is equivalent to wisteria rather than lilac) is this color."

Perfectly clear, right?

;)2I scored a 0 but I am drawn to warmer colors. My Ering is a J and I love it!!!

Yes I agree about icy crispness. I love your D color MRB (and your fancy yellow too). Loved my 2.05 D-VS2 oval from ex-hubby. But wanted a larger diamond from current hubby so I traded it in for a 3.01 F-SI1 pear. F is my compromise in color for 2+ ct diamonds (the 2.31 Q-VVS2 CBI doesn't count, lol).

I would love to have a 4ct D colored CBI, but pricing is in the realm of crazy for me.
You know I adore your jewels! Ah, a 4ct colorless RB. Note to self: Must win lottery.

Color sensitive as in LOVE colors.:kiss2:

I just did this like a month ago. Scores are 0. So sure, I'm color sensitive in a sense; I can see the color but I don't always mind it ( which I'm sure y'all can figure going by my collection...lol)

For center diamonds I actually prefer the warmth of an H-I versus the coolness of an the colorless range.

Also too, because I have a lot of melanin, an H-I looks whiter against my skin than someone with less. Something to think about I guess.:mrgreen2:

I barely had the patience to complete the test! I got a 4 which I think is decent for my age group. G-H and most I color diamonds look pretty white to me. I can't really tell the difference between them unless I compare them side by side.

As soon as I saw old cuts, I realised that colour only enhances their beauty, rather than detract from it. They’re just so full of character and personality, that colour doesn’t detract one iota at all.

I'm quite color sensitive...but I'm definitely a fan of warmer colors. Many (sigh...MANY) years ago when shopping for my first real diamond, I remember how much I was "left cold" by icy white stones. D, E colors are just not for me, although I understand why others love them. That search led me to an H, which had just enough warmth in it to please my eye. For me, I think warmer colors depend on the level of brown I can detect in the stone - in I's, J's, and a little below, I like creamy whites that don't pull brown. Now, I DO love champagne stones where the brown quality is a distinctive feature of the stone, but I've never been tempted by one enough to pull the trigger.

Btw - this thread is reminding me of a DBL video I watched recently about stone color and fluorescence that is really interesting. For those who are really attuned to color, a stone like this would be very fun to play with:

I love them all. Whiter colors for MRBs, warmer colors for old cuts and all the colored gemstones. They all have something different and delicious to offer. And of course with personal preference there is no right or wrong. It's what tugs at our heart strings. So many different beautiful stones.

I did this test years ago. I can't remember my exact score, but I'm super color sensitive. When I shop for diamonds I usually look in the D to F color range. G is where I notice color and H has very noticeable color to me. These diamonds can be beautiful as well, just not the icy white I prefer.

Scored a 4. I knew I was a bit color sensitive. I could see a huge difference between my E and G colored stones. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, LOL.

This explains everything - I've always been I was highly color sensitive.

I should add - I like pretty much all diamond colors and find it's more important to get the right setting - which can flatter your color or make it look jarring. In general tho, for me, E is my sweet spot. Dang!

FireShot Capture 081 - Munsell Hue Test - http___www.colormunki.com_game_huetest_comparison.jpg

I had no clue I was that color sensitive :???:

I have scored 0 on this a couple times some years apart but I don't mind an G+. I can see the tint but it's not enough to bother me. I is a big no. H depends on where it is.

Scored a 12 but mostly because i'm super impatient and got annoyed with re-arranging them. i see a slight tint in my H colored stone but it doesn't bother me one iota!

Sadly found myself have perfect color vision. Make my search journey harder :naughty:

Not necessarily harder, but rather just means you can see color and need to determine what you like. ;)2
