How Can you Tell if is Platinum??

I hope there is someone that can help me with this question about a ring that I purchased online. My question is how do I tell a platinum setting from a white gold setting? The ring is not stamped. Is there any other way to tell if it is truly platinum? Thanks Daisy

take it to an appraiser and have them test the metal. Mine is custom and was not stamped, but during our appraisal, our appraiser tested the metal in various ways to confirm platinum.

As a layperson, you won't be able to confirm it without having an expert test it. A plat ring will be quite a bit heavier than the same size white gold ring, but that won't be a good enough test for you.
