I found this post and when you look at it compared to the ''appraised value'' how can there be THAT much of a difference? Is the "diamond district in NY" that cheap or are they that deceitful? Here''s the post..the picture didn''t come through but it''s a channel setting. The appraised value is almost $13K but they''re sellling it for $2700

Appraised values are often significantly higher than reality. In this case, from the description you've posted, it seems appropriately priced. No one gives away precious stones and precious metals and when something appears to be "To Good To Be True," it usually is too good to be true.

Don't let the appraisal cloud your vision. No one on the planet would pay $13K for that ring. The question you have to decide is if it's worth $2700 to you.

Question? Is this an Ebay listing? If it is, I'd look long and hard before you leap. There are many many many horror stories you can find on the forum by perfectly nice people who made huge mistakes buying expensive rings through Ebay. Even if the seller has satisfactory ratings on Ebay, it can be a huge nightmare to return something and get your money back. While I've never ever considered buying something so valuable on Ebay, it's amazing how many people have, only to receive something that looks nothing like the picture and is nowhere near the quality the advertisement referenced.

Buyer BEWARE........

An appraisal is only as good as the appraiser who prepared it. 'Free' appraisals can turn out to be very expensive indeed. The same is true with the 'free certificate', whatever that is.

I am so sick and tired of "out-of-this planet" appraisals. Using a dartboard, it IS possible to arrive at these values. As usual....Buyer Beware...is always in effect. Never let common sense cloud your judgement.

There''s one company on Ebay that requires you to buy the appraisal before they will ship the item.
