how big should sidestones for a 1ct diamond

I'm getting a ring with four sidestones on each side how large should they be (all together) for a 1ct. diamond. I was looking at the same ring, one with 1/10th ct in side stones and one with 1/4th ct in side stones.

Basically one has stones a little over 1 pt. each and the other has around 3 pts. each. A lot depends on your personal preference.

I found one on WF with .28 in the setting, and I think it looks pretty good.

I like the size of the ring that DS posted. 2.4 mm is a nice size for the band

I really like the 1/4 to 1/3ct range. It will add some extra sparkle to the ring without competing with the star of the show! I LOVE the legato! I was toying with the idea of the matching WB for myself.

I love the diamonds semi mounts but I have a 1 carat diamond and no matter which setting I tried in the store we kept going back to the solitaire. I wanted my diamond to be the center of attention. I ended up with a thinner anniversary ring than I had before too. I went from a 1/2 ctw 10 stone channel set ring to a 1/2 ctw 15 stone channel set ring. It was enough to add sparkle but not detract from my solitaire.

Anything will look gorgeous I guess it boils down to your taste and what you want to be the center focus of your ering.
