How big does MY diamond look?

Just a reminder to everyone who thinks there is no way that could be over a carat, step cuts face up much smaller than others.

I have a 1 carat emerald, and I think yours looks at least the same size, probably larger. It''s hard for me to gauge, since I have a halo around mine. My best guess is that it is about 1.2-1.5.

I''m very interested to find out the results!

.98 would be my guess but it looks way bigger than that! Your finger's throwing me off!

I''m guessing .75 - .85ct. Come back and tell us!

.70-.80

Really hard to tell. If it''s over a carat, I''m guessing 1.4?

Under a carat, .9? But I really think it''s over a carat, unless you have really tiny fingers.

1.33 my guess

.75 - .9 ct

so cal...while what you say is true she is asking how big it looks. judging by the picture it definitely looks less than a carat

I say 1.3ct?

I know. What I was pointing out, though, is that a one carat emerald looks different than a one carat round (coverage wise). Since it is an emerald, you have to gauge it on the scale for an emerald. Just wanted people to take that into account.

Like a lot of people pointed out, the size it looks does depend a lot on finger size. My 1 carat emerald on a size 6 finger looks to be about the same size, but I could be way off.

Anyway, it''s a beautiful ring. Can''t wait to see how you reset it.

It LOOKS to me like around 1 carat, but I bet it''s actually 1.5 -1.8.

Lets also keep in mind though, that "Objects may appear larger" when it comes to photos of diamonds. They tend to look much larger than they would in real life.

Very good point!!!

So, dashimurzi, are you ever going to come back and tell us the answer?

I hate to ruin the surprise...but I just read in an old thread of her''s that it''s just shy of a carat.

1 carat-ish?

Im guessing 1.2.

A little bigger than my Mom''s EC ... and hers is .70 ... so, .85? .90? If I didn''t have the frame of reference of my mother''s ring (over the last 40 yrs -- it is pretty well ingrained) I''d assume it was 1ct.

Fun game! No spoilers!

It almost looks like my sister's hand.....so I'll say 1.0ct!

Thank you everyone who replied! It was very interesting to see what you all thought! :)

For real, as Ms. Halo pointed out (she read in my other thread), the diamond is just a bit shy of a carat.

I am changing my setting by adding a veeeeeeery delicate halo (Tacori style), and some surprise diamonds. I am not changing the band, just the head. I am also getting two thin diamond bands on both sides of my ring.

I am very excited to post pictures when it is finally completed :)

Again, thanks everyone :)

I could be way off, but I think it''s in the 1.2-1.3 range?

It's hard to tell when we don't know your finger size. Seeing a ring on a hand in a picture is much different than seeing a ring on a hand in person (IMO, you can tell if someone has small hands in person, but it's difficult to tell in a picture), but assuming your finger is about a size 7 or so, I would guess .80 to .90 carats. ;)

Wow! I thought it was much bigger even knowing that stepcuts face up smaller than their weight. Your new setting sounds absolutely gorgeous. Can''t wait to see pics.s

I hate to ruin the surprise... but I will! LOL!

Congrats, OP! It''s beautiful!

I was going to say 1 ct. I will look forward to seeing your reset. Please post some pictures

Around 1 ct. It looks lovely on your hand.

I looked right around a carat to me, but I would love to see it in an antique style halo... :-)
It''s a very nice stone to begin with, and top it off with an amazing setting and you might have to pick my jaw off the floor

Oh, please post that picture side-by-side with the new ones once you have the new setting!

I was going to say 0.8-0.9, though I don''t know your finger size so it''s hard to tell. I think a halo will really add some coverage!

I would have guessed around a 1ct, lovely diamond, can''t wait to see it with the halo around it
