Poke, sesame spinach, rice and miso soup

You had me doing a double take because I misread poke as pork and tried to find the pork for 10 seconds before I realized I read it wrong! Looks like a fabulous meal.

Hamburger was delicious! Grilled in cherry wood. Grilled corn then baked beans like Grandma taught me.

I bought a crepe maker. Need to practice more, but they taste great even if they aren't pretty yet. Made blintzes yesterday using fresh crepes.

The tart and macarons were made by a friend who owns her own baking business.

Smoked carrots, purple potatoes, onions, and NY strip roast. Amazing and very few dishes!

There's a vegetable on the plate. When is lobster not healthy? Do you prefer your steak well done?
Aren't lobsters high in cholesterol? .

The steak was cooked on an INFERNO 2, it looks burn on the outside but very juicy MR inside. One of the best tasting steak that I ever had. My DD bought it as a Father's Day gift for her SO. A must have for steak lovers... :lickout: :lickout:

For sure! (FWIW Arctic was not intentionally misspelled....Artic is very close to The Arctic....)

i promise you, hand on heart, even if i had noticed or even known, i would never ever comment on spelling :mrgreen2:

Yes! Well, except the last photo with the NY strip roast. That was dinner Friday night. It was just really good and the photo was there so shared it too. I'm sure I must have done something other than cook and eat on the 4th, but I don't remember what. The food was too delicious to care and it was nice being back in the kitchen for real meals again. (Even if it did wear me out and I slept most of Sunday....)

The other night i was at the neighbourhod supermarket buying i don't remember what ... but i brought fried chicken and chips for dinner
I got Gary the chicken tenders and i had a thigh and a drum
we both really enjoyed it, they do really good chips with chicken salt and it was all freshly cooked
i think he especially enjoyed it because he didn't expect it so he had zero expectations
First tea i havn't cooked since fish & chips way back in Feb

Pecan pie!!!

Hubby absolutely loves loves loves this dessert. He had it at a conference in San Jose and asked me to make it. I was skeptical (nuts and a gooey custard thing???) but now it's our family staple.

Towards the end of my pregnancy I made a huge batch for him thinking "Goodness knows when we'll ever have these again." Haha my prediction was true. The baby was so difficult we didn't have these again for years!!! I think I made them again when he was about 5 yrs old.

@mellowyellowgirl do you watch master cheif ?
to non Australians mastercheif Australia is the best version of the franchise
Really nice and super talented contestants with helpful judges and no snarkiness
Skill wise they are miles ahead of the US and UK versions i have seen
also when Gordon Ramsey is a guest he behaves himself
This seaaon is a bit different after last season's behind the sceens implosion of the judging panel (aka Top gear and Jeremy Clarkson) but its really encouraging the new seaaon's judges are carrying on in a similar vain to their predecessors (judging style)
Unfortunately here they do not screen the master class eposides although i dont know if they are doing them this season with the line up of very skilled past contestants?
We are only on week 2 here and unfortunatly i just read some news on my news feed that Poh got eliminated
I just love Poh, she is my favourite tv cheif/ cook pushing dear Maggie Beer of my perch

I like that new lady judge - have you seen all her rings ?
She piles them on but she rocks it !

Im making soup
i found the xmas ham bone in the freezer and i also brought a double smoked hock
and the really good news
I got a same day supermarket delivery
Ordered at 11am arrived 5.45 pm
and i got vinnila and i got pearl barley which is just as well because i want the barley it in the soup !!!
They even supplied the lamb kebabs i wanted to make last week but that were never supplied
My whole cabbage got substituted for .......2x half cabbages
And my strawberry milk i finally shouted myself, got substituted for choclate

We had Gary's grown up son here for lunch
they had just both had the best iced coffees from Bulls on the way back from Gary's eye appointment in Palmerston North

I made bacon, spinach, tomato and cheese wraps for lunch with a side of Thai dumplings
Aaron's family (from his mum's side) dont like tomatoes :-o and he doesn't like spinach so he got an egg in his wrap
me and Gary enjoyed the last of our cheery tomatoes in ours - not bad for after the shortest day, those tomatoe plants definatly paid for them selves

I adore your tales of your food adventures @Daisys and Diamonds

Yes I watch most of the MasterChef franchises and Melissa is indeed fabulous. Eloquent, intelligent and beautiful.
Thank you mellowyellogirl
My cooking requires a great sence of humour im afraid :mrgreen2:

Tonight (way back in week two) they made damper cooked on sticks of gum in the pressure test
Streets ahead of the gluey pasty uncooked yuck we ate with jam in Girls brigade
And the crumpets ....yum
A few of them looked like i had had a hand in them (burnt)

Here im just cooling the ham soup down before i go to bed
i am very impressed how much meat came off the hock and the little birds in our garden will be feasting on ham fat tomorrow

I have been making a lot of smoothies, since my kids and hubby are not big fruit eaters and I want them to have all the great vitamins and antioxidants in fruit.

This one has orange juice, vanilla yogurt, 1 banana, frozen tropical fruit with pineapples, mangos, coconut and also frozen berry blend with strawberry, blueberries and blackberries.

I hope they make more Australian junor mastercheif
That's what hooked me into Australian mastercheif
The kids are so clever (and the judges) and also the kids are so kind to each other

Kindness is what sets mastercheif Australia apart from all the others
I think they chooss their contestants more for actually cooking ability than for sensational argumentative reality tv
I know a few years back they had some contestants who were a bit confrontational and they made a point of choosing 'nicer' contestants from then on
i was a bit worried about the new judges but they all seem nice

@Dancing Fire with all the seafood and steak you eat, cholesterol might catch up to you before COVID does. Hope you're talking care of your health despite your appetite for the good stuff. :twirl:

That's true, but when I go I didn't get cheated from what I love to eat... :praise: No regrets.
