I finally gathered enough courage to get on the scale and... let's just say it wasn't very helpful for my stress eating

Wow, you guys are cooking and eating some amazing stuff! I wish I was a baker, but alas, a few times I tried in the past they did not turn out so good. My poor kids are missing out on some great quarantine baked goods! LOL.

I'm definitely eating more, less healthy, and most likely gaining weight. I'm trying to gather enough courage to get on the scale. Between the general stress of the situation, working non-stop at home, means lots of unhealthy snacking. Chocolate chip cookies are my weakness. I haven't been drinking much but I signed up for a wine subscription service and I'm expecting 6 bottles on Monday. So that's about to change as well.

I'm still rocking my cane so very little I can do in regards to exercising. Trying to get least get some short walks every day.

I'm not looking forward to the part where I have to fit into my regular clothes!

My baking got really bad over the years because i needed a newer oven, temperature is so important
now things work out !
I have found with baking its more of an exact science, you must meaure correctly, sift flour and don't miss steps

My chcolate cake i made yesterday is actually really delicouse today

And i made a Swedish recepie of green tomato chutney that made the house and outside stink but it tastes a bit like sweet chillie sauce and im quite impressed

Having chocolate cake for lunch

.....Also may have had chocolate cake and rum coffee at 6am (before breakfast). As got zero sleep last and got up at 4.30

One thing ive learnt from our plumbing problem (found the hose to fix it :appl: ) a bath full of water will not last nearly as long as you think it will and we will definatly have to look at getting an emergency tank in the near future for earthquake preparedness

Hi, @anne_h ! Which mini-stepper model do you have? Do you find that you can get a really good sweat going? Would love to hear your thoughts. 8)

Hi @KristyDarling !

It's called 'Healthrider Mini Stepper'... I bought it at my local hardware store, it was their only model. Very inexpensive.

I can get a moderate sweat going, if I want to. Sometimes I just want some light cardio without getting too sticky, lol.

I wanted something with a small footprint, and debated between a mini stepper and a folding exercise bike. Of the two, I'm happy with this choice.

BTW, at one point in the past I had a full-size elliptical trainer... I would say the mini-stepper workout is not as fulsome. The strides on the mini-stepper are much smaller. But I knew that going in, and am happy overall. Feel free to check out some videos on youtube if you want to see one in action. I found that helpful...

Hope this helps!

Anne

My chocolate cake had a faint funny taste, i think I'll keep the olive oil for bread and keep using butter in my baking (except my carrot banana cake)
Still first chocolate cake i ever made turned out pretty good

Oh I think I know the chocolate cake you made - Chelsea Winter right? I think extra virgin or standard olive oil is not the right kind of oil for a cake cos it’s too strong a flavour. Rice bran, canola or light olive oil would be the right one. I bet it was still very tasty tho!

Yes i think your right and your spot on with Chelsea Winter ! My banana carrot take uses sunflower oil and i think that would have been better - but it was nicer today and i used real butter in the icing
im going to make her lockdown bread in the next couple of days - again subbing 1/3 wholemeal flour - i have one only budwizer and one only Speights gold in the fridge - i might have to toss a coin

Tonight i made chicken burgers for tea - the patties are a bit budget but bacon makes everything better. Made Racheal Ray appleslaw and used some NZ yam (oca) leaves as we had no lettuce - they have a nice sour zing to them
Also used the relish i made yesterday 20200404_201652.jpg

Sounds yummy.

DH is eating lox on multigrain bread. He's the adult in the relationship. Boring.

Now I need to get some salsa. Thanks for the suggestion.

I’m gaining weight...
I’m constantly cooking and feeding my kids. I have two toddlers and when they were in school, they didn’t eat too well. My older boy had finally gained some weight that I wanted.

My family had all gained weight. I’m a foodie that also like to cook.

I think ima going to keep myself busy with some online class instead of cooking...

Some pictures of the meals I made.

To quote @lissyflo, we are eating with great gusto

We’ve just scoffed a huge burger from the Scottish meat delivery (grass fed, no nasties) on a ciabatta bun with onion and cheese, with home made twice cooked fries :lickout:
