1.62 ct, Round Brilliant Cut
Triple EX
GIA Certified # 6204577130
SI2
I Color
56% table
36.5% crown angle
40.6 Pavilion Angel
16.5% crown length
50% star facet
62.5% depth
medium faceted 3.5%

Question is will this produce a lot of fire? I saw it in person and it looks good problem is lighting in stores is obviously tailored to make even the dullest diamond sparkle. How do these angles look? crown to pavilion angle?

I am worried about the 36.5 crown, and the SI2 clarity. Do you have videos? Pics?

The diamond could potentially give you a lot of fire in fire friendly lighting environments. Clarity characteristics in this grade would be a factor to consider carefully. Grade setting inclusion type is twinning wisps which can sometimes impact transparency and overall light performance.

I would pass. I think you could find something better

Why do you say that? What is not good about it in I’m your opinion? So I am getting it for $5800 with a trade in with a similar diamond (same color/clarity, 1.44ct). My budget isn’t super huge but I’m also not trying to get a crappy diamond. The diamond I have now exhibits a lot of fire and I love it, it just has bad history so I’m looking to trade.

Better proportions, significantly less included, and only 1k more. If paying an extra 1k can get you such a significantly better stone, I would do it.

Another option. An SI2, but with better proportions

So it’s pretty close as far as proportions go besides that crown angle. What does a 36.5 crown angle suggest? What effect is it going to have on this diamond? I always read that cut and symmetry are important in diamond fire. I read to always chose a excellent cut which this is. Idk how to get the fire I am looking for

Excellent cut from GIA is not nearly as 'excellent' as from AGS. Excellent cut from GIA is a much larger 'range' of numbers.

Unfortunately small numeric differences can make a huge difference in terms of look. Cut is the most important, and XXX cut is NOT sufficient for it to be considered "excellent" here on PS.

So what proportions am I looking for to make sure I get a firery diamond? I have gone through several. I’ve switched the diamond out 3 times and returned them all 3 times. I’m sick of doing it and need to know what to look for to get it right and get what I am looking for

If you want the best and most firey stone, then I would consider a "super ideal" from vendors like Whiteflash (A Cut Above is their branded cut), Crafted By Infinity (purchasable from High Performance DIamonds), Brian Gavin Diamonds, or Victor Canera H&A. You will need to sacrifice size or color in order to get the best possible cut.

These are the recommended ranges for ideal cut diamonds

Crown Angle. 34 -35. ( up to 35.5 pairs with 40.6 Pavillion )

Pavillion Angle 40.6 - 40.8

Table 55 - 58 ( 55 to 56 for more fire 57 to 58 more white light )

Depth 60 - 62.2

LGF 75 - 80 ( closer to 75 produces bold flashes )
( closer to 80 produces splintery flashes )

Small changes in proportions can make a big difference and these ranges are in the “ safe zone “ if you are unable to get advanced images. But on PS we always recommend getting Idealscope and Aset images to confirm light performance.

These are jp201845 recommended very narrow range of ideal-cut proportions.

Yes these are my preferred ranges you are correct.

What are your preferred ranges @Garry H (Cut Nut) ?

Edit : Due to the broad range of GIA Tripple X why my ranges are very narrow .

@Laila2754 if I am understanding this, you are tied to a trade situation with your jeweler on your most recent stone so suggestions for stones from online vendors here do you no good.
Do you mind sharing what the bad history is about with the current diamond?
