Hello Again!

As I sit around and wait for my finger to heal, I get more and more impatient!

I recently went to a B&M store (just to look, I''ve got my heart set on a Danhov design that I plan to purchase from JA.)
The saleswoman showed me the clamp (made to go over large knuckles, then tighten around the smaller finger part.)
When I told her that I had to wait about a year for my finger to heal she was like, "Why wait? Get the clamp now, and you could wear your ring!

Ahhh, I am ever too impatient! The seed got stuck in my head... wear it now, wear it now, wear it now!

So, here''s the deal, and any advice will be more than welcome (even if you advise me to wait it out!! I might need to hear that!)

The Danhov (Danhovs actually, I''m still deciding between a few...) have very delicate shanks, I don''t think that the clamp will work, I went back to read up on Jazmine''s horseshoe sizer, and I think it''s my best option (over sizing beads.) My knuckle will only allow a 7.5 ring over it, but my ring size before the accident was a 5.5 (still is on the lower part.)

I contacted JA and they don''t have the horsehoe clamp, but offered sizing beads..

Where might I find a horseshoe clamp? I think Jazmine got hers installed with WhiteFlash.
Could I find one at a local jeweler and have it installed after purchasing my new setting?
Should I try sizing beads to start (will they work with a 2 size difference?
Should I just wait until my finger is completely healed (next March?)

Thanks all, I''m sure that many of my questions are repetetive, and I apologize for that!

Annie

2danes, I totally sympathize with you! In fact, your knuckle difference sounds even greater than mine. I am trying to decide whether to go w/ the horseshoe sizer or sizing beads.

I don''t know where you live, but in the D.C. area, (Northern Virginia to be exact) there is a jeweler called Adeler Jeweler in Great Falls, VA. I know they use the horseshoe sizers. Also Charleston Alexander said they could do them. I''ve never asked at Bailey, Banks & Biddle, but you could try there if you have one nearby. Otherwise like you said, WF probably did Jazmine''s, so you could send it there. Some jewelers have never heard of them.

I too am trying to get feedback on these.

Thanks Old Fashioned Girl!

It''s nice to have someone that''s in the same boat!
We do have a BBand B here (Atlanta) I''ll check with some other jewelers too. Funny thing is, I did a google search for horseshoe sizers, and found NOTHING!

Yup, my big old knuckle is a monster size now. I''m not sure it will go down too much more since I broke it at the knuckle-- but I''m sure my hand therapist will beat some sense into me tomorrow at our session and tell me to wait.
(Why does waiting stink SO MUCH???)

I just HATE not wearing a ring on my left hand!!!!

Yes, we should start a large knuckle support group!

Sorry about your accident. At least my big knuckle is on my right hand, so I sympathize with you all the more. But I also can sympathize with the impatience. Due to my large knuckle, my reset hasn't worked out as I'd hoped, so I am so missing having my engagement diamond on my left hand (or wearable at all since early April).

Earlier this year I would have told you to get a hinged-shank, but not anymore...

Incidentally, some folks have warned me that these horseshoe sizers can wear out eventually.
Good luck!

Oh,
did you try to hinged shank and have a bad experience?
I was pretty nervous about them, I didn''t want to mess with the intergrity of my new setting (or my hope-to-be-new setting.)
I figured the beads or the horseshoe would be less intrusive.

Wait, I think I read your thread while obsessively researching yesterday after my jewelery store experience got my hopes up.
